Full Job Description
The Power BI Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, governance, and support of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. This role serves as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, architects, data engineering teams, and offshore delivery teams, ensuring scalable, high-quality, and business-focused analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Delivery
- Lead a team of Power BI developers, analysts, and support resources.
- Prioritize and manage reporting demand, enhancements, defects, and production support activities.
- Act as the technical and functional lead for Power BI initiatives.
- Drive offshore team enablement, knowledge sharing, and work delegation.
- Ensure adherence to delivery timelines, quality standards, and SLAs.
Business & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
- Translate business needs into actionable reporting solutions and KPIs.
- Facilitate requirement workshops, solution reviews, and user acceptance testing.
- Provide executive-level reporting insights and recommendations.
Solution Design & Development
- Design and develop enterprise-scale dashboards, scorecards, and self-service reporting solutions.
- Build and optimize semantic models, data models, measures, and calculations using DAX.
- Develop reusable reporting frameworks and visualization standards.
- Define reporting architecture and best practices.
Data & Integration
- Work with Data Engineering teams to define data requirements and optimize datasets.
- Integrate Power BI with Azure Databricks, Fabric, SQL Server, Synapse, Snowflake, and other enterprise platforms.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reporting performance.
Governance & Administration
- Establish Power BI governance, security, and deployment standards.
- Manage workspaces, apps, access controls, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Monitor platform usage, refresh schedules, gateway health, and capacity utilization.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise data governance policies.
Performance & Optimization
- Optimize report rendering, DAX calculations, and dataset performance.
- Identify and resolve data refresh failures and reporting bottlenecks.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
AMS / Production Support
- Oversee L2/L3 support activities for Power BI solutions.
- Manage incidents, problem management, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
- Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and knowledge repositories.
Required Skills
- 8-12+ years of BI and analytics experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience.
- Strong expertise in:
- Power BI Service
- Power BI Desktop
- DAX
- Power Query (M)
- Semantic Models
- Data Modeling
- Microsoft Fabric
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience with Azure Data Platform (Databricks, Synapse, Azure SQL, ADLS).
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD deployment practices.
- Understanding of data governance, security, and reporting best practices.
- Experience leading onsite-offshore delivery teams.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft PL-300 - Power BI Data Analyst
- Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
- Azure Data Engineer Associate
- Agile/Scrum certifications (preferred)

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $125,967 to $134,565
