Team Overview

Plaid's TechOps team is the technical foundation that is a major stakeholder in keeping the company running. We own the systems, tools, and infrastructure that every Plaid employee depends on from identity and endpoint management to help desk support, office infrastructure, and the internal tooling that powers day-to-day productivity.

What sets us apart from a traditional IT team is how we approach the higher level goals we have to improve our systems and tooling over time. We treat corporate infrastructure like an engineering problem: configuration lives in code when possible, endpoint provisioning is automated, access assignment is self-service, and we're always looking for ways to make our systems more reliable and our support burden smaller. We've built real momentum in that direction, and we're investing in the people and tools to take it further.

We're a small team with broad ownership and high standards. We work closely with Security, Engineering, and People teams to make sure Plaid's internal environment is secure, scalable, and ready for where the company is going whether that's a new office, a new compliance requirement, or a new way of working enabled by AI tooling.

Role Overview

While you would be required to take part in our on-call rotation for a few hours a week, this isn't just a break/fix IT position, it's a chance to build, improve and own systems that a thousand-person company depends on.

If you care about doing IT the right way, infrastructure as code, automation-first, and are very security-minded, this team is actively building that culture and we need someone with existing experience in this area to help us move even faster.

In this role you will be expected to own various domains, extend existing capability for the team on a longer term roadmap and work on larger scope (quarter or longer) and more complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Leading others on the team, unblocking others and providing some guidance and mentorship.
• Helping the team build out its roadmap, advocating for work that should be done in the future and backing it up with a plan.
• Owning and improving Okta configuration, lifecycle policies, access reviews, MFA enforcement, Workflows automation
• Managing endpoint configuration via Iru/Kandji, with a preference for policy-as-code and version-controlled configs
• Building and maintaining automation to reduce repetitive support burden
• Evaluating, deploying and supporting AI tooling to improve team and company productivity
• SaaS procurement/renewals for the systems we own
• Active ownership of many companywide SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Linear, Slack, Okta etc.)
• Supporting other Eng, Security and GTM teams with planned work that crosses into the team boundary of the systems we support or our expertise.
• 3 days a week in the office

Qualifications

• Must have experience:
  
  • 5+ years of experience supporting a large fleet of macOS devices
  • mobile device management for Apple devices (Iru, Intune, Workspace One etc.)
  • configuration as code (ex: terraform)
  • Advanced usage of bash/python or other languages
  • leveraging Claude Code, Codex or other tools to improve the quality and efficiency of the solutions you are building
• Experience managing, but also defining and leading the business with the proper use of critical central business systems
  
  • Google Workspace
  • Slack
  • Linear/Jira or other ticketing platforms

Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
