Overview

The Senior Technical Solutions Manager role is accountable for helping drive complex finance operations transformation by connecting business process expertise, technical solution management, stakeholder alignment, and disciplined delivery. The successful candidate will partner across Payroll Accounting, Finance, Engineering, HR, Operations, and vendor stakeholders to turn business needs into clear requirements, roadmaps, controls-aware solutions, user-ready experiences, and measurable business outcomes. This role requires in-depth business and data landscape knowledge, strong data management discipline, structured analytical problem solving, stakeholder-oriented communication, high-quality project execution, and the ability to turn data into actionable insights that improve business decisions and operational outcomes.

A successful candidate brings an operational excellence mindset, champions continuous process improvement, and is adept at getting things done with the ability to dive into the details. The ideal candidate exhibits curiosity, is a fast learner, and has a passion for understanding business needs to influence stakeholders at varying levels across Microsoft on a regular basis to meet business and corporate deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Build cross-team coordination between business and engineering stakeholders to solve complex process and technology integration challenges.
  • Develop and maintain solution vision, strategy, roadmap, success criteria, risks, dependencies, and delivery milestones for high-impact transformation initiatives.
  • Translate complex business problems into clear business requirements, user stories, technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and prioritized solution scope.
  • Partner with engineering and solution teams to design scalable technical solutions that align with business objectives, controls, security, compliance, and quality expectations.
  • Track project schedules, dependencies, resources, risks, and key decisions while keeping stakeholders aligned and accountable for outcomes.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing, stakeholder feedback sessions, focus groups, and adoption readiness activities to validate end-user needs and solution effectiveness.
  • Define and monitor success metrics, KPIs, OKRs, adoption measures, and operational performance indicators to evaluate solution value and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare stakeholders for change through communications, training plans, quick-reference materials, demos, FAQs, and post-launch feedback loops.
  • Serve as a trusted voice between business and technical teams by advocating for practical, scalable decisions that make the best use of resources and support strategic objectives.

  • Master's Degree in Business, Project Management, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in project management, operations, or engineering
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to build solid relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous and fast paced environment conforming to tight deadlines. Detail oriented with proven ability to deal with ambiguity, strong ability to manipulate large volumes of data and work effectively in situations involving uncertainty or lack of information.
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, communication, sound business judgement and partnership competencies. Ability to mobilize a diverse team to a common goal.
  • Highly effective individual who can work independently with excellent organization skills - ability to manage multiple, competing projects and priorities.


Technical Solution Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
