Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant or Tax Manager to prepare and review a wide variety of federal, state, and local tax returns while assisting clients with tax planning and compliance. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, stays current with changing tax laws, and is committed to providing outstanding client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, S corporation, fiduciary, nonprofit, and gift tax returns.
  • Prepare multi-state tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Analyze financial records and supporting documentation to accurately complete tax filings.
  • Assist with tax planning strategies designed to minimize tax liabilities for clients.
  • Research tax issues and apply current tax laws and regulations to client situations.
  • Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist clients with tax correspondence.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations and annual tax projections.
  • Reconcile tax accounts and identify discrepancies requiring further review.
  • Collaborate with clients to gather financial information and answer tax-related questions.
  • Maintain organized electronic workpapers and documentation supporting tax filings.
  • Assist with year-end tax planning meetings and client consultations.
  • Support bookkeeping and accounting engagements as needed during non-peak tax seasons.
  • Stay informed of new tax legislation, regulatory updates, and accounting standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and client service.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 5+ years of public accounting or tax preparation experience.
  • Experience preparing multiple types of tax returns, including:
    • Individual (Form 1040)
    • Corporate (Form 1120)
    • S Corporation (Form 1120-S)
    • Partnership (Form 1065)
    • Fiduciary (Form 1041)
    • Nonprofit (Form 990)
    • Gift Tax (Form 709)
    • Estate tax
  • Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
  • Experience with tax preparation software (Lacerte, ProSystem fx, or similar).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines during busy tax seasons while maintaining accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA license or progress toward certification.
  • Experience with tax planning and consulting engagements.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation.
