Role: Senior Property Accountant

Role Overview:
The Senior Property Accountant plays a critical role in the accurate and efficient financial management of multiple properties. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks on a monthly basis, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and budgeting support. The Senior Property Accountant must possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and demonstrate proficiency in Yardi software. Additionally, this role involves preparing work papers, developing depreciation schedules, and generating cash flow forecasts. The successful candidate will excel in both independent and collaborative work environments and will contribute to maintaining high standards of financial integrity across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Monthly Accounting Activities:
• Perform monthly accounting activities for multiple properties using Yardi.
• Record accrual journal entries and Gross Potential Rent (GPR) entries with precision.
• Execute comprehensive cash flow forecasts.
• Navigate and manage both accrual and cash accounting methods as needed.
• Prepare financial statements for review.
Bank Reconciliations:
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during reconciliations.
Financial Reporting:
• Preparation of monthly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Generate ad-hoc reports as needed to support decision-making processes.
Work Papers and Year-End Activities:
• Prepare detailed work papers on a monthly basis to support financial transactions and account balances.
• Create comprehensive work papers for year-end audits.
• Develop depreciation schedules at year-end.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Collaborate with other departments to gather information for property-specific budgeting and forecasting.
• Support the budgeting process by providing accurate and timely financial data.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in property accounting.
• Proficiency in Yardi software is required.
• Familiarity with the preparation of depreciation schedules.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reporting:
• This position will report directly to an Accounting Manager.
