Full Job Description
Your Impact:

Help build the backend services at the center of complex order management and omnichannel retail experiences. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and support scalable applications and event-driven microservices that handle real-world order workflows and directly contribute to the customer experience.

This is a hands-on engineering role with scope beyond feature delivery. You will work across technical design, coding, automated testing, observability, production reliability, automation, and continuous improvement while partnering with product, architecture, and engineering teams. You will also have opportunities to mentor other engineers, share technical knowledge, and evaluate modern tools and technologies for the team.

What You Will Do:
  • Build scalable, event-driven services: Design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Spring Boot microservices and event-driven architectures using Kafka to support complex order-management workflows.
  • Turn business needs into production-ready solutions: Partner with product teams to translate complex business requirements and functional specifications into executable stories, technical designs, and robust code modules.
  • Build quality into the solution: Write high-quality, maintainable code backed by automated test suites using Cucumber, JUnit, and Mockito, and build solutions across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB to support data consistency and scalability.
  • Engineer for production reliability: Build observability into applications using Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and Grafana; monitor and optimize production systems; troubleshoot incidents; perform root-cause analysis; capture key learnings; and improve performance, stability, and resiliency.
  • Improve engineering efficiency: Automate and simplify development, testing, deployment, and operational processes to improve how the team delivers work.
  • Shape complex technical solutions: Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams and help guide development teams in designing solutions aligned with architecture blueprints, standards, and strategies.
  • Mentor and share knowledge: Mentor engineers and contribute through code reviews, technical design discussions, demos, onboarding materials, share-out sessions, technical documentation, engineering standards, and software development best practices.
  • Evaluate modern tools and technologies: Assess software, tools, and technologies and provide objective recommendations based on technical and business needs.

What You Bring:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), or a related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement, if applicable.
  • Backend engineering experience: 5+ years of software development or related experience, including hands-on backend application development with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Architecture and engineering breadth: 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: frontend technologies (UI/UX), middleware (including microservices and APIs), database technologies, or DevOps, along with experience designing and supporting microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems using Kafka.
  • Quality and development practices: Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, automated unit, integration, or behavior-driven testing, source control, and modern software development practices.
  • Agile delivery: 4+ years of experience implementing solutions through the software development life cycle (SDLC) using iterative Agile development.

It's a plus if you have:
  • Advanced education: Master's degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field.
  • Development toolchain: Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB; automated testing with Cucumber, JUnit, and Mockito; Git-based source control such as Bitbucket; and build/dependency-management tools such as Maven or Gradle.
  • Enterprise engineering and systems analysis: 4+ years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, defect or incident tracking software, web services, and application and integration middleware, as well as 4+ years defining technical requirements and performing high-level design for complex solutions.
  • Technical documentation and business systems: 4+ years of experience writing technical documentation in a software environment, developing and implementing business systems within an organization, and working with source-code control systems.
  • Technical breadth, delivery, and observability: 4+ years of experience working with three or more of the following: CI/CD tools and pipelines, frontend technologies, middleware, database technologies, and/or DevOps, with experience using observability and monitoring technologies such as Elasticsearch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
