Full Job Description
As a Senior Software Developer within Ubisoft's Foundation services teams, you will play a key role in shaping the connected experiences of millions of players. You will contribute to the development, scaling, and operation of high-performance online services powering game features such as automation workflows, referentials, scheduling, notifications, presence, and game server orchestration and more. Our platforms enable teams to automate game content, operate large-scale backend systems, and ensure smooth, reliable experiences for players worldwide. You'll help answer critical questions: Can our systems scale to massive demand? Can teams move faster through automation? Can players connect and play seamlessly? You will contribute to or lead the design and evolution of these services, working in a collaborative, innovative environment focused on performance, reliability, and technical excellence. What you'll do • Develop, design, and evolve platform services supporting automation, scheduling, player connectivity, and game server management, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing systems. • Contribute to or lead the technical design of new features and improvements, balancing performance, reliability, and maintainability. • Own or contribute to service components, making architectural decisions and continuously improving system performance and scalability. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (game production, SRE, Online Services) to integrate services into games and align on shared technical goals. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed systems, ensuring stability and smooth live operations at scale. • Improve development practices through code reviews, testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing. • Support operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, CI/CD pipelines, and incident response. • Drive continuous innovation, staying current with emerging technologies and improving our platform capabilities. Qualifications What you bring • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, Node.js / TypeScript, Python, Go, or Java. • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL, event-driven architectures, and service-to-service communication patterns. • Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency, and performance optimization. • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL. • Experience contributing to or owning backend services in a distributed systems environment. • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts clearly. • Experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code). Nice to have • Experience with high-scale consumer platforms and distributed system patterns (load balancing, resiliency, retries, circuit breakers). • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems. • Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge). • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments. • Familiarity with game backend systems or latency-sensitive services.
