Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the Sr Project Lead supports the planning, coordination, execution and delivery of projects within IP. You will be contributing to the development of world-class digital products and experiences touching millions of Scotiabank customers every day.   • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Lead day-to-day planning, scheduling, and execution of assigned projects or workstreams for up to 20M project size
  • Support integrated delivery planning across teams, timelines, and dependencies
  • Assist in identifying, tracking, and escalating risks and issues, including proposed mitigation options
  • Ability to showcase progress in projects/initiatives/programs, holding people accountable to their commitments and making sure we are on track for successful delivery
  • Assisting senior management to enforce standards and methodology; ensuring solutions are in line with the technology standard/roadmap and mentoring the technical team members on a project to project basis
  • Works with key stakeholders within all business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
  • Work on multiple complex projects/initiatives as a delivery leader
  • Present and leverage technical information and solutions in a way that establishes trust relationships, persuades stakeholders and achieves understanding and consensus at all levels
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
  • Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Build strong partnerships with Business Sponsors, Technology teams, and delivery partners
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure business outcomes and delivery objectives are achieved
  • Support coordination across internal teams and external vendors
  • Join the on call rotation within IP team for PROD support
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • 10 years overall experience in software industry with 5+ years of Technical Project Management experience and/or leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects primarily dealing with software development releases.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand the team needs
  • Knows about Lean, eliminating waste, focusing on value delivery, small batch production, frequent delivery of working software, adapting to change
  • Understands backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban based metrics, task definition, story splitting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques - Automated Testing, User Stories, Continuous Integration, Testing, etc.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working experience in JIRA/Confluence
  • Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches
  • Solid understanding of software release process (environments, binary repositories, CI/CD);
  • Experience with cloud-based applications, awareness of main public cloud offerings (Microsoft Azure/GCP/PCF)
  • Attention to details, high standards for quality, ability to balance risk with technological advancements;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with ability to build and foster relationships with business users, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors;
  • PMP, ACP, or equivalent certification preferred
