Job DescriptionWW+P Architects + Planners Inc. is looking for a motivated, proactive and highly collaborative Senior Planner to join our team. The role of the Senior Planner is to work with the WW+P team to deliver pragmatic and forward-thinking plans, policy documents, reports and strategies that support our private and public sector clients.
Role and Responsibilities- Project management of development approvals and public policy projects (Official Plan Reviews/Updates, Secondary Plans, etc.) on behalf of public and private sector clients;
- Lead and contribute to the preparation of project deliverables, including planning justification reports, studies, and planning instruments;
- Collaborating as part of inter-disciplinary teams to seamlessly marry planning and design;
- Collaborate with a range of subject matter expert teams to position, pursue and deliver great projects that have a positive city-building impact;
- Supervise the work of junior and intermediate planners, to facilitate their continued growth within the planning profession;
- Work with colleagues locally and across the world to broaden our areas of practice and ability to contribute meaningfully to tackling critical urban issues; and
- Increase WW+P's visibility through industry events, articles and publications, awards submissions, presentations, networking and participation in the broader community of planning and design professionals.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in planning;
- Minimum six years of experience in urban planning in North America; planning experience in Toronto an asset;
- Fluent and deep experience with Provincial, Municipal Policy (Growth Planning, Supportive 'Infrastructure' Planning (e.g. Transportation and Movement, Housing), Official Plans, Neighbourhood Plans, etc.
- Development planning and planning approvals management expertise, including the authorship and coordination of planning rationales, design justifications, and other planning reports required for municipal approvals;
- Policy planning experience, such as preparing secondary plans and/or updates to municipal planning tools (official plans, zoning by-laws) is an asset;
- Community design experience (Area Specific Design Framework + Policy Development + Parameters for the Built and Public Realm Environments);
- Public engagement and consultation experience;
- Solid understanding of the range of Housing issues and priorities in Greater Toronto or Metro Vancouver including the delivery of affordable housing, seniors housing and neighbourhood infill; and,
- Experience in the following areas is an asset:
- Public-Private Partnerships/ Third-Party Delivery Mechanisms;
- Development Management.
