Job DescriptionBrookfield Properties is seeking an experienced senior paralegal for a dual role that will support the legal team of Brookfield Properties with contract formation and management as well as paralegal support across designated New York City office and retail properties within the Brookfield portfolio.
This role will work primarily with the legal team of Brookfield Properties but also with other internal business teams (such as Leasing, Property Management, Design and Construction, Capital Markets, our partner CBRE, and Investments), particularly with respect to the preparation of various agreements ancillary to sophisticated office and retail leasing and various contracts related to design and construction projects and property management activities. The position will also help to support financing and investment activities.

Role & Responsibilities:- Provide paralegal support for leasing activities across assigned NYC assets by preparing various agreements such as minor lease amendments, side letters, brokerage agreements and commencement date agreements along with notices ancillary to leasing activities such as ROFO notices, change of address notices, expansion notices and other notices to tenants.
- Provide paralegal support for property management activities across assigned NYC assets by preparing various agreements such as telecommunication license agreements, access agreements and service agreements.
- Provide paralegal support for design and construction activities across assigned NYC assets by preparing various agreements and contracts such as design agreements, purchase orders, construction agreements and consultant agreements.
- Provide legal support for financing and investment activities across assigned NYC assets by preparing various agreements and documents such as estoppel certificates and SNDAs along with managing checklists and title related matters.
- Maintaining business standards and practices for all things contracts related.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of legal processes, templates, playbooks, and standard positions.
- Assist in global portfolio initiatives including diligence exercises, form creation and process improvement
Your Qualifications:- Four-year post-secondary degree with 5+ years of experience with contracting in commercial real estate
- Experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.
- Must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and highly team oriented
- A close reader with good analytical skills - must have acute attention to detail, ability to spot errors and inconsistencies, and work well under pressure.
- High sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
- Proactive and willing to take initiative with the ability to make decisions independently combined with an ability to work collaboratively and seek guidance when appropriate.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with AI productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) considered an asset
- Experience with New York City office and retail leasing strongly preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Type: Exempt
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
Annual Base Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
