Full Job Description
Job Description

This is a senior technical leadership and ownership role dedicated to driving excellence across precision CNC manufacturing, advanced multi-axis programming, and end-to-end workflow execution.

The successful candidate coordinates the complete interface between manufacturing and all support groups to establish the most efficient sequence of operations, along with the most economical methods of manufacturing and tooling. Acting as a critical bridge between design, engineering, and support teams, you will translate complex technical specifications and CAD/CAM data into production-ready, highly efficient processes.

Responsibilities span the entire product lifecycle: developing and maintaining robust CNC programming with clear, concise operator instructions; supporting new product introduction (NPI); updating legacy programs and instructions to current standards; and scaling operations from prototype through full production runs. Operating with full technical ownership at both workstation and machine level, you will set up, program, and operate multi-axis CNC milling centers (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) and multi-axis turning centers with live tooling, setup documentation, and perform complex machine shop work. Furthermore, you will serve as a subject matter expert and technical mentor, providing proactive guidance on manufacturability, risk mitigation, and process standardization while fostering continuous improvement across internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and CNC machine programs for new products using applicable machining equipment.
  • Collaborate with CAD developers to incorporate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into product designs.
  • Design, validate, and implement workholding fixtures that enable safe, repeatable, and efficient production.
  • Partner with Engineering to define and achieve product tolerances and manufacturing requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize product tooling lists, including cutting tool selection and machining strategies.
  • Evaluate manufacturability and recommend design or process improvements to improve quality, cost, and throughput
  • Manage the transition of new product launches into production by approving machine-ready product prints, ensuring adherence to project timelines, overseeing first production builds for quality and process validation, and training production operators to support a successful production release
  • Drive R&D initiatives to evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies, automation, tooling, equipment, and processes. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to improve manufacturing capability, efficiency, and product quality.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience with a strong CNC machining background.
  • Machining Process Design: Experience spanning programming, fixturing, tooling, documentation, inspection, and training.
  • Milling Operations: Hands-on set-up, programming, and operation of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling equipment.
  • Turning Operations: Set-up, programming, and operation of multi-axis turning centers.
  • CAM & CAD Expertise: Expertise in CAM programming (Mastercam preferred) and CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Specialized Machining & Controls: Experience with micromachining and familiarity with Fanuc and Siemens machine controls.
  • Quality & Metrology: Experience in metrology and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Proficiency: Mastercam, SolidWorks, and Rhino.
  • Education: BSIE (Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering), BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering), or equivalent degree.
