Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Commercial Finance will lead the ongoing performance management of Enterprise Sourcing's cost transformation Strategy at Canada's leading Food and Drug Retailer. The role is responsible for identifying value leakage, diagnosing the drivers of variances, and coordinating cross-functional actions to support closing performance gaps.

Working closely with Sourcing, Merchandising, and Divisional Finance teams, the Senior Manager will convert supplier, category, and deal-level performance information into clear financial insights and practical corrective actions.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Finance, this role will help support the pre-deal validations and ensure that negotiated value is sustained after deals are finalized.

Key Accountabilities
Value Performance Management
  • Monitor actual and forecast sourcing value against deal commitments, periodic expectations, and annual targets.
  • Assess whether value is being realized in accordance with approved deal assumptions and implementation timeline.
  • Lead detailed root-cause analysis of sourcing performance variances and identify areas of value leakage on periodic basis.
  • Maintain clear visibility into material performance gaps, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate factors including volume, mix, timing, implementation, supplier compliance, baseline changes, cost movement, and operational execution.
  • Support the assessment of supplier delivery against negotiated commercial commitments.
  • Identify systemic performance themes across suppliers, categories, divisions, and deal types.
  • Highlight opportunities to improve cost, recover missed value, or strengthen future deal structures.


Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting Economics, Analytics or a related discipline.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in commercial finance, strategic finance, FP&A, sourcing finance, category finance, analytics or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex variance analysis and translating findings into business actions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial modelling skills in Excel, analytical, and management-reporting capabilities required.
  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy, SAP, is an asset
  • Experience with building strong business partnerships and influencing cross-functional decisions.
  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, sourcing, procurement, merchandising, or supply chain is preferred.
  • Process and Capability Development
  • Improve analytical approaches, tools, and reporting used to assess value realization.
  • Develop repeatable methods for leakage analysis, variance decomposition, and action tracking.
  • Support consistent performance-management standards across categories and sourcing initiatives.
  • Coach the team on commercial analysis, problem solving, and stakeholder management.
  • Prepare weekly and periodic forecasts to provide a forward-looking view of expected value realization through strong collaboration and partnership with Sourcing leads.
  • Prepare periodic and quarterly reporting on sourcing performance, material variances, risks, and opportunities against forecasts and budgets.
