Why is this role important?

As the Senior Manager, BI and Analytics Engineering, you will play a key leadership role in advancing how Loblaw Digital uses data to understand our customers, measure the performance of our digital experiences, and make better decisions.You will lead our Analytics team and help strengthen the capabilities that connect trusted data foundations with high-quality analysis and insights. This includes advancing our practices across analytics engineering, data modeling, governed metrics, self-service analytics, reporting and insights.

You will also help shape how we use AI to modernize analytics - making it easier for teams to access trusted data, explore business questions and move from questions to insights faster.

You will work closely with Product, Technology, Data and business teams to turn complex digital data into trusted, accessible and actionable information that improves decision-making and customer outcomes.

What you'll do:
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of analytics engineers and analytics professionals.
  • Define and evolve the Analytics Engineering and Analytics strategy, standards and roadmap across Loblaw Digital.
  • Build trusted, scalable analytics foundations through reusable data models, consistent metrics, testing, documentation and data quality.
  • Champion analytics engineering best practices, including modular modeling, version control, CI/CD and code review.
  • Drive self-service and AI-enabled analytics through well-governed datasets, semantic layers and intuitive tools.
  • Use customer, product and business analytics to identify opportunities, diagnose issues and measure impact.
  • Partner across Data, Engineering, Product, Marketing, Trading and business teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions and actionable insights.


Does This Sound Like You?
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, technical or business-related field; advanced degree is an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, analytics, product analytics or BI, including people leadership.
  • Strong SQL, data modeling and analytics engineering skills, with experience using cloud data platforms and tools such as BigQuery, Snowflake, dbt or similar.
  • Experience building scalable data models, trusted metrics and reusable datasets, with strong practices in testing, documentation and data quality.
  • Experience enabling self-service analytics through well-governed datasets, semantic layers and BI platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI or similar.
  • Strong understanding of digital and product analytics, including customer journeys, funnels, conversion, engagement and experimentation.
  • Experience applying AI and generative AI to analytics, with an understanding of validation, data quality and responsible governance.
  • Strong business acumen, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business teams.
