Senior IMS & 5G Core Network Support Engineer
Lead I - Software Engineering
UST is searching for a Senior IMS & 5G Core Network Support Engineer who will provide advanced troubleshooting support for IMS, VoLTE, EPC, and 5G Core network issues impacting voice and data services.
The opportunity:
• Analyze SIP, Diameter, GTP, and IP signaling flows to identify root causes of network failures and service degradation.
• Troubleshoot IMS Core components including CSCF, SBC, BGCF, TAS, HSS/UDM, MRF, and related voice core platforms.
• Investigate VoLTE/VoNR call failures, registration issues, session setup failures, handover problems, and media-related issues.
• Perform detailed log analysis, packet captures, and protocol trace reviews using tools such as Wireshark, NetScout, Splunk, and OpenSearch.
• Support troubleshooting and escalation handling for EPC/5GC nodes including MME, AMF, SMF, SGW, PGW, and UPF.
• Participate in major incident bridge calls and provide technical leadership during network outages and service-impacting events.

What you need:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in telecom Core Network support or ATAC environments.
• Strong understanding of IMS/Core technologies and telecom operational processes.
• Experience troubleshooting telecom voice and data network services.
• Knowledge of IMS Core components such as CSCF, SBC, BGCF, TAS, HSS, MRF, and related technologies.
• Familiarity with SIP, Diameter, and IP networking protocols.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating with vendors and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure operational environments.
• Technical Skills
• Experience with telecom monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Familiarity with Splunk, OpenSearch, NetScout, Wireshark, or similar diagnostic platforms.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
• Experience with ticketing and incident management systems.
• Exposure to automation tools and scripting is preferred.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Texas
Compensation Range: $75,000-$113,000
