The Senior Engineer I, Reliability Engineering, provides technical support to the Operations teams for onshore wind projects. This position works directly with the Asset Managers, Operations and Maintenance personnel, Project Managers, and fellow Operations Engineering teams to identify, quantify, investigate, report on, and correct the root causes of sub-optimal fleet performance and reliability. This role will support all of the renewables assets in the Americas from the end of construction to decommissioning, emphasizing Operational success and needed repairs at existing project sites.

As RWECE grows in terms of managed assets as the existing fleet ages, the position supports the growing asset base and growing maintenance needs that often come with age.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Analyze the existing drivetrain failure modes in the RWECE fleet
  • Evaluate the criticality of each failure mode within drivetrain components, and evaluate the risk of catastrophic failure
  • Support of root cause analysis and corrective action for drivetrain damages and failures
  • Perform drivetrain dispositions
  • Support (and/or manage third-party consultants) in conducting root cause analyses to determine the primary reasons for major failures and find solutions for them that impact plant operations
  • Develop measurements and KPI's to drive the team's performance on project delivery and accuracy
  • Lead initiatives to develop engineering practices and processes that improve quality, productivity, and results

  • Able to travel up to 30% of the time


Job Requirements and Experiences:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience is preferred
  • Working knowledge of equipment utilized in the renewable energy sector, including utility-scale wind turbines
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause analyses and corrective action problem-solving for mechanical components
  • Demonstrated experience developing component or repair specifications and working with suppliers to qualify mechanical components for purchase or repair
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
  • Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong leadership, communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multitask while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds

Work Environment:

This position is office-based, with some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.
