Description & Requirements

about this team

The Soft Accessories Design team creates product that supports a modern, versatile wardrobe, balancing activity-specific solutions with foundational pieces designed for everyday wear. With a focus on elevated design thinking, technical innovation, and refined craftsmanship, the work is grounded in movement and function. Working in close partnership with Development, Technical Design, Materials, Sourcing, and Merchandising, the team translates creative intent into highly considered, performance-led product. This highly collaborative process connects concept to construction, ensuring each piece reflects lululemon's design DNA while advancing the aesthetic through innovative materials, precision fit, and purposeful detailing.

Designing within this space requires strong knowledge across multiple product types, confidence in both knit and cut-and-sew construction, and a forward-thinking, solutions-oriented mindset. The work balances creativity with technical precision, ensuring product performs as intended while meeting the highest standards of quality, function, and design integrity.

core responsibilities

The Senior Designer - Soft Accessories is responsible for the creative design and development of men's and women's soft accessories across the mainline collection. This is a newly created role, established to strengthen the total soft accessories category through considered design, rooted in movement, function, and technical integrity, while remaining relevant in a contemporary lifestyle context.

Working within lululemon's design ethos, you will translate creative direction and brand identity into innovative, functional, and commercially compelling product. You'll bring a strong point of view to both the creative and technical aspects of design, with the ability to move fluidly across product types. You will collaborate with design partners within the Accessories Design team, as well as Women's and Men's Design, to create cohesive head-to-toe outfitting. Reporting to the Design Manager, you will contribute to a consistent and considered design point of view across the category.

This role is well-suited to a multifaceted designer with a diverse background, someone who is equally comfortable thinking conceptually while also solving problems through material, construction, and detail. You are curious and open-minded, with an interest in exploring new methods of make, and a disciplined approach to execution.

As a senior member of the team, you will also play a key role in supporting and mentoring more junior designers, sharing knowledge, building technical confidence, and contributing to a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Depth of experience within knitted product is highly valued, specifically an understanding of circular or sock knit construction.

  • Apply strong knowledge of performance-led and lifestyle materials, trims, and raw materials, including knit structures and yarns, to deliver purposeful, well-considered product.
  • Partner with Design leadership to research, develop, and introduce innovative materials, trims, and construction techniques, including circular and sock knit applications, that elevate the assortment.
  • Contribute to colour and graphic direction informed by sport, culture, and modern lifestyles, aligned to seasonal vision.
  • Ensure each product reflects lululemon's design DNA, quality standards, and functional integrity, while challenging conventions where appropriate.
  • Support and mentor junior designers, fostering technical confidence, curiosity, and collaboration.
  • Stay informed on global design, accessories, activewear, and cultural trends, applying insight thoughtfully rather than trend chasing.
  • Champion innovation across materials, construction methods, and responsible design practices.
