The Opportunity:Tetra Tech's Chicago, IL office is currently seeking a Senior Consultant. The ideal candidate for this role would serve in a leadership role managing and growing the Chicago business unit. Responsibilities of this position will include interpretation of federal, state, and local agency regulations. The role also involves analysis, oversight, and review of project work products such as site-specific technical data, calculations, technical reports, construction plans, cost estimates, environmental permit applications, and permit terms and conditions. These responsibilities will be applied to the transactional diligence, environmental, and remediation industries. On-site work and short-term travel may be required.
The position will also involve building client relationships, supporting new business development activities such as proposal preparation, and assisting with cross-selling opportunities. The successful candidate will support projects and clients within Tetra Tech's Legacy Site Services (LSS) division. The successful candidate will interface with LSS senior leadership on overall business strategy and operations matters as well as mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will also be expected to interface regularly with clients as a trusted advisor in order to build on client relationships.

- Plan, develop, coordinate, and help direct work for multi-project clients, and multiple clients.
- Help support strategic initiatives for continued work with key clients and business sectors.
- Support the work of others and maintain quality control on projects and on administrative tasks.
- Work independently to perform project tasks, design, calculations, and reporting to meet the project specific requirements.
- Be a point of contact for clients and maintain a positive relationship with clients.
- Manage multiple smaller company priorities and projects.
- Work at contaminated sites, and/or other sites where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist.
- Be able to travel for short-duration projects as needed.
- Assist with proposals, including the development of technical plans, schedules, and cost estimates, and preparation with staff and with the client.

Required Qualifications:- BS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental field.
- 13+ years of experience in environmental consulting or closely related field.
- Transactional diligence experience required with experience in private equity clientele.
- Must have a highly organized, disciplined, and able to work collaboratively across various business units.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to think and act critically and strategically.
- Time management skills.
- Experience with site investigations and remediation.
- Ability to perform field work in various environmental factors.
- Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 20% of field work required).
- A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:- MS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental field.
- Professional Engineer/Professional Geologist license preferred.
- Project management experience including budgets and invoicing.
- Business development experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs occasionally. Infrequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Requires use of hands for typing, handling materials, and operating office equipment.
- Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (slopes up to 2:1 or 3:1 grade, hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, contaminated media, etc.).
- Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight (approx. 20% of travel required).
- Have full range of motion to support field activities.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:- Based out of the Chicago, IL office with potential of a hybrid work arrangement, but the candidate must reside within 30 miles of the local office. This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company's discretion.
- Field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result will include working in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, bugs, oil/gas sites, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for site assessments, sampling, oversight, and other field activities.
- Office work will include extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment.
Additional Information:- Full-time, Monday through Friday work schedule (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.
- Work will be performed in a field and office setting.
Target salary range: $115,000 to $125,000.
