Senior AWS Cloud Engineer - Lift & Shift Migration

Lead II - Cloud Infrastructure Services

UST is searching for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to lead the migration of our on-premises workloads to AWS. This role is focused squarely on lift-and-shift migration - re-hosting existing applications, storage, and file transfer processes onto AWS infrastructure with minimal re-architecture, while establishing the content delivery, storage, and secure transfer patterns the environment will run on going forward. You will work closely with infrastructure, application, and security teams to plan cutover, containerize legacy workloads where needed, and ensure a smooth, low-risk transition from on-prem to the cloud.

The opportunity:
• Plan and execute lift-and-shift migration of on-premises servers, applications, and workloads to AWS
• Design and implement content delivery using Amazon CloudFront and storage architecture using Amazon S3
• Stand up and manage secure file transfer workflows using AWS Transfer Family (SFTP/FTPS/FTP)
• Containerize legacy applications with Docker to prepare them for cloud-hosted environments
• Assess on-prem workloads and dependencies to build migration runbooks, wave plans, and cutover strategies
• Configure supporting AWS infrastructure - networking, compute, security groups, and IAM - for migrated workloads
• Validate post-migration performance, cost, and security posture, and remediate issues found during cutover
• Document migration architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures for the environment

What you need:
• (Must Have) Amazon CloudFront
• Hands-on experience designing and configuring CloudFront distributions for web content and application delivery
• Experience with origin configuration, caching behaviors, and invalidations
• Understands signed URLs/cookies and integration with WAF for edge security Amazon S3
• Experience designing S3 bucket architecture, storage classes, and lifecycle policies
• Understands S3 security - bucket policies, IAM access, encryption at rest, and versioning
• Experience migrating on-prem file storage and data to S3 AWS Transfer Family
• Hands-on experience standing up and managing AWS Transfer Family endpoints (SFTP/FTPS/FTP)
• Experience integrating Transfer Family with S3 or EFS as backend storage
• Understands user/identity management and access controls for managed file transfer Docker
• Hands-on experience containerizing applications with Docker, including writing and optimizing Dockerfiles
• Comfortable running and troubleshooting containerized workloads in a cloud environment Lift & Shift Migration Experience
• Has led or been a core contributor to at least one on-premises to AWS migration project
• Experience with migration assessment, wave planning, and cutover execution
• Comfortable working with legacy infrastructure and minimizing risk during transition

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Compensation Range: $75,000-$113,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
