Full Job Description
About the role

The Senior Applications Manager owns our business application portfolio end to end, from Dynamics 365 and our POS and ticketing platforms through the line-of-business and web applications our teams rely on every day. This role is both the senior technical owner of that portfolio and the primary bridge between IT and the business, partnering with revenue, finance, and operations leaders to turn their goals into practical, well-supported technology. This role is based in Vancouver, BC and works a hybrid schedule, with on-site attendance expected when required. Early priorities include rolling out Business Central, building a clear application roadmap, and establishing consistent intake and prioritization for business requests.

Compensation:

  • 120kCAD/annually
  • Extended Benefits
  • Short Term Incentive Program

What you'll do

  • Own Microsoft Dynamics 365 as our ERP and system of record: configuration, module rollouts, release and update cycles, and the implementation partner relationships behind it, working closely with Finance to keep the ERP aligned to how the business actually runs
  • Own the rest of the business application portfolio end to end, including POS and ticketing systems, line-of-business platforms, and the web applications that support them: roadmap, lifecycle planning, routine upgrades and maintenance, and retiring systems that no longer earn their place
  • Serve as a senior business partner to revenue, finance, and operations leaders: understand their objectives, elicit and document requirements, translate them into specifications our vendors and internal team can build against, and drive adoption through documentation and training so the business gets full value from what we've invested in
  • Lead and develop the applications team, including mentoring our Junior Applications Specialist: set priorities, coach and grow capability, and maintain the practices the team runs on, such as intake, documentation, testing, and change control
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts: hold partners accountable to roadmaps and commitments, evaluate and select new solutions, and define and maintain the capital and operating budgets for the portfolio
  • Plan and deliver application projects such as implementations, migrations, upgrades, and configuration, organizing deadlines, resources, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Own integrations, data flows, and application hosting, including internally hosted web applications running on IIS and Azure App Services, partnering with the data team so the reporting layer is fed by clean, well-understood source data
  • Set application standards and IT policy, and own compliance and reliability for the portfolio: PCI-DSS and GDPR obligations, access and permissions governance, and monitoring for cost, security, and uptime
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making: able to make the call, solve problems, and exercise good judgment with incomplete information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, translating fluently between technical and business audiences
  • Strong project management and prioritization across a portfolio of competing demands
  • People leadership: coaching, developing, and setting clear direction for a small team
  • Strong commitment to building positive working relationships across a geographically dispersed, seasonal business
  • Service-focused mindset with internal and external partners, and the flexibility to adapt when the unexpected happens
  • Willing and able to travel to sites as needed

Education & Experience

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

IDEAL EXPERIENCE: You won't need every item on this list. If you meet most of it, we encourage you to apply.

  • 7+ years in business applications, IT, or a related field, including time leading people or owning an application portfolio end to end
  • Hands-on ERP experience, Microsoft Dynamics 365 especially, including ownership of configuration, releases, and the finance and accounting processes it supports
  • Experience hosting and supporting web applications on IIS and Azure App Services: deployments, site and application pool configuration, bindings and certificates, scaling, and troubleshooting
  • Business analysis or business-partnering experience: gathering requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translating them into specifications
  • Track record leading application projects (implementations, migrations, upgrades) on time and on budget
  • Vendor and contract management, including budget ownership
  • Understanding of PCI-DSS and GDPR requirements
  • Preferred: Experience with Ventrata an asset. Experience with POS, ticketing, and reservations platforms in an attractions or hospitality environment; CRM and marketing automation; payroll and people management systems; integration and API concepts; ITSM tooling (Jira, ServiceNow, Freshservice); shared-services or multi-site environments; small-team background wearing multiple hats
