We are currently seeking a Senior API Solutions Architect / Lead API Engineer (Onsite) to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia (US-GA), United States (US).

Senior API Solutions Architect / Lead API Engineer

Position Summary

We're seeking an experienced Senior API Solutions Architect to design, build, and lead the delivery of modern API and microservices solutions powering enterprise applications. This role combines hands-on software engineering with architecture, helping shape cloud-native solutions that are scalable, secure, and highly available.

You'll partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to define API strategy, establish best practices, and deliver innovative solutions across AWS cloud environments. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges while influencing enterprise architecture, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable REST APIs and microservices in AWS cloud environments.
  • Lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise API solutions, including hands-on software development.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Define API standards, governance, security, and best practices across multiple development teams.
  • Build and maintain public and private APIs supporting multiple business applications.
  • Design highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems using cloud-native services.
  • Manage and prioritize API and product feature backlogs within an Agile development environment.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure software quality through testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide production support, including root cause analysis, debugging, and occasional on-call support.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture strategy, technology roadmaps, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Mentor development teams and promote engineering excellence through technical leadership.


Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise applications.
  • 5+ years designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
  • 3+ years building cloud-native applications on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS, SQS/SNS, or similar services).
  • Strong experience designing scalable, highly available distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with API security, governance, versioning, OAuth2, JWT, and API lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or another modern programming language.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, and systems integration.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and supporting production applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience defining enterprise API strategy and governance.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL, gRPC, or event-driven API architectures.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
  • Experience designing multi-region or multi-cloud architectures.
  • Background in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.


Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Travel

Occasional travel (approximately 10-30%) may be required based on project and business needs.

Pay Transparency

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $135,405 -$250,750. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.

This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
