Purpose

Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) is the framework utilized to transfer interest rate risk and liquidity risk from the business lines to a centralized unit within Group Treasury; mitigating volatility related to these factors in business unit margins.

The Senior Analyst - Treasury FTP ("the Senior Analyst"), with the lead of the AD of Treasury FTP, is responsible for implementing the Treasury FTP ticketing across various desks. This role monitors the daily funding volumes, maintains the Funding dashboard as well as daily PnL reports for each GT desks and supports ticketing processes for GT and Capital Markets desks.

The Senior Analyst collaborates with Group Treasury, Capital Market, Treasury Finance, Product Control Team, PEAK support team to align FTP methodologies with the bank's risk management and financial resource allocation strategies. This position requires a good understanding of FTP methodologies, the bank's ALM risks, funding risks, hedging strategies, and activities and effective collaboration with internal teams.

Accountabilities

  • Champion a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Maintain governance documents of key FTP ticketing processes.
  • Perform implementation and analysis in QRM for ALM and Liquidity methodologies.
  • Provide support to
    • Manage daily ticketing processes and ensure desk-level accurate PnL analysis.
    • Implement operational improvements to streamline ticketing operations.
    • Transfer interest rate risk from the banking book in the Funding Center to the SIRR desk on a weekly basis by collaborating with the ALM team.
    • Process capital markets workflows and monthly FTP procedures
    • Standardize and optimize implementation of FTP methodologies for capital markets
    • Process internal ticketing for short-term funding flow with business lines on daily basis.
    • Process internal ticketing for ad-hoc deals on daily basis.
  • Seek opportunities for operational improvements to be embedded in Finance processes, cash management project and intraday liquidity methodology.
  • Assist Group Treasury Data Transformation initiative and provide support for QRM FTP Implementation.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.


Education/Work Experience/Designations

  • MBA /University level Business/Finance degree or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • 3+ years financial institution experience or relevant experience, with knowledge of Treasury products including HQLA and repos.
  • Understanding of profitability and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Bank's business lines, product offerings, interest rate and liquidity risk management concepts and principles, and regulatory environment.
  • Proficient communication skills to present / discuss FTP subject matters with colleagues and business partners.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts in the presence of ambiguity.
  • Knowledge and experience with SQL.
  • Knowledge of the Bank's internal ticketing systems and strong data analytic skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Python.
