Pay Rate
  • Low Rate: $101.20/hour
  • High Rate: $104.50/hour


Position Overview

SMX is seeking a Salesforce Technical Architect to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Enterprise Cloud Customer Relationship Management Platform (ECCRMP) program.

This is a Key Personnel role responsible for providing technical leadership and architectural oversight across Salesforce platform modernization and sustainment initiatives. The selected candidate will lead solution architecture, security design, data modeling, integration strategy, release management, and DevSecOps-aligned delivery practices.

The ideal candidate will be a senior Salesforce expert capable of working closely with Government stakeholders, developers, application teams, and program leadership to ensure Salesforce solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with CBP enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce Architecture
  • Design and oversee scalable Salesforce solutions, platform architectures, and technical roadmaps.
  • Establish architecture standards and best practices across the Salesforce ecosystem.

Security & Access Control
  • Define and implement Salesforce security models, including roles, profiles, permissions, sharing rules, and data access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with security and data protection requirements.

Data Modeling
  • Design efficient, scalable, and maintainable Salesforce data models that support business and technical requirements.

Integration Architecture
  • Define integration strategies and architecture patterns for connecting Salesforce with external enterprise systems.
  • Guide API, middleware, and system connectivity solutions.

Release Management & DevSecOps
  • Support release planning, deployment strategies, source control management, and CI/CD practices.
  • Promote secure and reliable software delivery processes aligned with DevSecOps principles.

Platform Modernization
  • Lead efforts to migrate legacy applications and processes to Salesforce-based solutions.
  • Support the successful deployment of new Salesforce capabilities into production environments.

Technical Leadership & Problem Resolution
  • Provide guidance on complex technical challenges involving integrations, performance optimization, security, platform configuration, and deployments.
  • Mentor technical teams and promote architectural consistency across projects.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate architecture decisions, technical recommendations, and solution strategies to senior Government officials, program leadership, and contractor teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on Salesforce platform capabilities and enterprise architecture.


Required Qualifications

Experience Level
  • Lead Architect / Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 15+ years of professional IT experience.

Salesforce Architecture
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce architecture, solution design, and platform governance.

Salesforce Security
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce security models, permissions, access controls, data protection, and compliance requirements.

Salesforce Delivery Lifecycle
  • Experience leading full lifecycle Salesforce implementations using Agile methodologies.

Production Delivery & Modernization
  • Proven experience delivering Salesforce solutions into production environments and/or migrating legacy applications to Salesforce.

Integration & Middleware
  • Extensive experience with APIs, integration frameworks, middleware technologies, and enterprise system connectivity.

Release Management & Source Control
  • Knowledge of source control systems, release management processes, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

Communication Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical teams, executive leadership, and Government stakeholders.

Location Requirement
  • Must be local to the preferred area or capable of working onsite as required.
  • Remote work is subject to Government approval.


Preferred Qualifications

Salesforce Certifications
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) strongly preferred.

Salesforce Government Cloud
  • Experience supporting Salesforce Government Cloud or other federal Salesforce environments.

Federal Government Experience
  • Prior experience supporting CBP, DHS, federal civilian agencies, or law enforcement-related programs.

DevSecOps
  • Experience with:
  • GitLab
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Secure deployment processes
  • Release governance frameworks

Federal Compliance & Security
  • Familiarity with:
  • Section 508 accessibility requirements
  • Federal security controls
  • Secure software development practices
  • Government compliance standards


Security Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship is expected for access to CBP systems unless otherwise approved by the Government.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required CBP suitability determination or background investigation clearance.
