FTE: 1.0, Shift: Dayshift, Schedule: M-F (Exempt position)

Position Summary
The Research Support Pharmacist provides specialized pharmacy services to support clinical research across the investigational institutions within MultiCare Health System. This role oversees investigational drug operations from protocol review through study closeout, ensuring compliance and institutional standards. Responsibilities include investigational product accountability, Epic investigational drug product and protocol build design, quality assurance, and education for pharmacy staff and learners. The position serves as a liaison between pharmacy, investigators, sponsors, and regulatory bodies to maintain safe and efficient research medication practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review study protocols for medication-use feasibility, regulatory compliance, and alignment with institutional policies; collaborate with IRB, sponsors, and study teams to ensure adherence.
  • Interpret and apply regulations and institutional requirements related to investigational drug management.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and plan IDS workflows, space needs, and IS&T requirements for study activation.
  • Develop and maintain study-specific medication order sets, compounding instructions, labeling, and blinding procedures.
  • Establish IDS fee schedules, support pharmacy budget planning, and ensure essential documentation for audits and monitoring visits.
  • Oversee workflows for receiving, verifying, storing, and documenting investigational product shipments, including drug accountability, temperature excursions, and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Provide protocol-based dosing recommendations, monitor adverse events, and ensure timely reporting per sponsor and institutional standards.
  • Deliver training for pharmacists, technicians, study teams, and patients as needed; serve as a subject-matter resource for investigational medication use across clinical areas.

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $164,652.80 - $222,768.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
