Engineering, design, and leading the implementation and maintenance of supervisory control systems (SCADA/EMS/DCS), networks, communications and machine control systems (PLC/DCS/HMI/RTU) in support of NYPA G&T assets.
Responsibilities- Provide lead engineer function in support of a limited range of control system design implementation and modification projects, and operations and maintenance activities/practices.
- Perform field visits to complete field inspections, condition assessments, and equipment evaluations and develop basic technical recommendations
- Develop and supervise the execution of NERC CIP and cyber securities policies, procedures, and technical solutions
- Select and apply codes, standards, and procedures to work tasks appropriately.
- Independently coordinate cross disciplinary activities for the successful development and execution of projects.
- Provide direction and review in the development of project engineering documents and submittals.
- For assigned work and projects, provide supervision of maintenance department(s) staff, and contractors, and prepare and monitor the day-to-day work activities of the crafts.
- Work with planners in scheduling work activities; oversee the safety of employees.
- Review job packages to ensure they are complete and current prior to performance of the work.
- Review completed work, job packages, and work orders to verify all steps are complete and to ensure that all data/information is recorded.
Site OT - Perform emergency response on a 24x7 on-call basis for facility real-time computing systems.
- Provide oversight of, and if necessary, perform, emergency response activities, ensuring 24x7 on call readiness for facility real time computing systems.
- Hold work clearances and coordinate work activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Competency in the design, operation, and maintenance of Operations Technology control systems specific to the electric utility industry.
- Fundamental knowledge of Operations Technology control systems and their components.
Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations. - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented with ability to build relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, and complete specifications, scopes of work, reports, and interdisciplinary design packages.
- Ability to coordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects.
Education, Experience and Certifications- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of five (5) years related work experience.
- Preferred certifications include: NY State Engineer in Training certification and/or certifications in Computer Science/Operations Technology
- Valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements- Approximately 20% travel primarily within NY State
- Must be able to provide 24/7 on-call support to operating facilities.
- Physical ability to navigate industrial sites, which may include climbing, bending, or working in confined spaces.
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $95,000- $199,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
