JOB SUMMARY
The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions for web and backend applications within Agile development environments. This role requires strong expertise in test automation frameworks, Java programming, API testing, and continuous integration practices. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with modern automation tools, strong analytical skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality testing solutions that improve software reliability, scalability, and delivery speed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for web and backend applications.
• Create and implement automation solutions using Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Java, and related technologies.
• Develop automated API and backend testing solutions using Rest Assured and other testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and QA teams to understand requirements and define test strategies.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Design and execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Create and maintain automated test suites to improve test coverage and release quality.
• Develop reusable automation components and testing utilities to improve testing efficiency.
• Review requirements, user stories, and technical designs to identify testing needs and coverage requirements.
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to drive issue resolution.
• Perform database validation and data integrity testing as part of end-to-end testing processes.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and support continuous testing initiatives.
• Maintain automation documentation, test plans, test cases, and testing artifacts.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve automation frameworks, testing processes, and overall software quality.
• Research and implement innovative testing approaches and emerging automation technologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on QA Automation experience.
• Strong experience developing test automation frameworks and automated test scripts.
• Hands-on experience with:
o Cypress
o Playwright
o Selenium
o Cucumber (BDD)
o Java
• Experience developing test automation solutions within Agile development environments.
• Experience automating backend and API testing using:
o Rest Assured
o API Testing Frameworks
• Strong understanding of software testing concepts and methodologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale web applications and distributed systems.
• Experience implementing Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud-based application testing environments.
• Experience with test reporting, defect tracking, and test management tools.
• Experience working in fast-paced Agile and Scrum environments.
• Experience implementing advanced automation frameworks and reusable testing libraries.
• Knowledge of performance testing and service virtualization concepts.
CERTIFICATIONS
