Python Full Stack Developer

Lead II - Software Engineering

We are looking for a Python Full Stack Developer to join our Cloud Platform Engineering team, supporting the migration of on-premises batch processing systems to AWS. This role goes beyond a pure lift-and-shift - it involves refactoring legacy batch jobs, many currently written in PERL, into modern, cloud-native Python applications and services.

The opportunity:
• Refactor and migrate legacy on-premises batch processing jobs, including existing PERL scripts, into Python-based services on AWS
• Design, build, and maintain full stack applications (Python backend, web front end) to support batch job monitoring and operations
• Re-architect batch workflows to run on AWS-native services (e.g., AWS Batch, Lambda, Step Functions) as appropriate
• Analyze existing PERL scripts and on-prem batch logic to identify functionality, dependencies, and edge cases prior to refactoring
• Write automated tests to validate that refactored jobs produce equivalent results to the legacy systems
• Collaborate with cloud engineers on infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and cutover sequencing for migrated workloads
• Troubleshoot and resolve data or processing discrepancies surfaced during migration validation
• Document refactored logic, architecture decisions, and operational runbooks

What you need:
• (Must Have) Python Development
• Strong hands-on experience building production applications and scripts in Python
• Experience with batch/ETL processing patterns - scheduling, error handling, retries, idempotency
• Comfortable working with Python data processing libraries and writing automated tests Full Stack Development
• Experience building both backend services and front-end interfaces (e.g., React, Vue, or similar)
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
• Comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from data layer to UI PERL Scripting
• Able to read, understand, and refactor existing PERL scripts
• Experience translating PERL-based batch logic into equivalent, maintainable Python code Lift & Shift / Refactoring Migration Experience
• Has been a core contributor to a migration project involving refactoring - not just re-hosting - legacy code
• Experience with batch job migration, including validation and parallel-run/cutover strategies
• Comfortable working with legacy, undocumented code and reverse-engineering business logic

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Remote-US

Compensation Range: $82,000-$123,000

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).
