Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead web content management, website operations, and digital modernization projects for a federal government customer. This position will manage high-visibility, public-facing .gov websites and Drupal-based web platforms, coordinating development, content management, accessibility, testing, infrastructure, security, and production support activities.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing web or digital projects within a federal government contracting environment, including hands-on familiarity with Drupal, federal .gov websites, and Section 508 accessibility compliance. Experience with Akamai or comparable content delivery network (CDN), website performance, or edge-security technologies is preferred.

This is a remote position supporting a federal customer located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage federal web content management, website development, modernization, and operations and maintenance (O&M) projects.
  • Lead projects supporting public-facing .gov websites and Drupal-based content management systems.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and performance measures.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including Drupal/web developers, content specialists, Section 508/accessibility specialists, QA testers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and business stakeholders.
  • Manage website releases, enhancements, upgrades, migrations, patches, and production support activities.
  • Coordinate web content publishing workflows and content lifecycle management.
  • Ensure websites and digital content comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements and applicable WCAG standards.
  • Coordinate accessibility testing, remediation, validation, and documentation.
  • Monitor website availability, performance, security, accessibility, and user experience.
  • Support technologies related to Akamai or similar CDN, caching, traffic management, edge delivery, application security, and website performance.
  • Apply Agile project management practices to support iterative development and continuous website enhancements.
  • Manage customer expectations, project risks, schedules, deliverables, SLAs, and contractual performance requirements.
  • Serve as a primary interface with federal customer stakeholders, technical teams, contractor leadership, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare project status reports, dashboards, executive briefings, risk reports, and required contractual deliverables.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, and digital-service requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing IT, web, digital, or technology projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a federal government contractor or direct employee of a U.S. federal agency.
  • Demonstrated project management experience supporting public-facing federal .gov websites.
  • Experience managing projects involving Drupal or Drupal-based content management systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility compliance and familiarity with WCAG standards.
  • Experience managing web development, content management, website O&M, or digital modernization projects.
  • Experience coordinating technical, content, accessibility, QA, security, and operational teams.
  • Experience managing project schedules, risks, deliverables, performance metrics, and customer expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with federal customers, technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required federal Public Trust or suitability requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Akamai technologies, including CDN, caching, traffic management, website acceleration, edge delivery, or web application security.
  • Experience managing large-scale or high-traffic federal websites.
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud-hosted web environments.
  • Experience with Drupal upgrades, migrations, or modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD processes supporting web applications.
  • PMP certification.
  • Agile certification such as CSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe.

Compensation

Estimated Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year

Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, certifications, technical qualifications, contractual requirements, geographic considerations, and other business factors.
