We are seeking an experienced
Project Manager to lead and support decommissioning activities associated with the
Douglas Point Nuclear Facility in Ontario. Based full-time on site at Chalk River, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the planning, execution, and delivery of complex nuclear decommissioning projects while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
This role requires a strong background in nuclear decommissioning, stakeholder management, construction and demolition activities, and project delivery within highly regulated environments.
- Manage all phases of nuclear decommissioning projects, from planning and engineering through execution and close-out.
- Lead project teams responsible for dismantling, demolition, waste management, remediation, and infrastructure removal activities.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, nuclear safety standards, environmental regulations, and client procedures.
- Coordinate engineering, operations, construction, procurement, radiation protection, and waste management teams.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to address schedule, cost, quality, or safety deviations.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, and change control processes.
- Interface with clients, regulators, contractors, and key stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Oversee contractor performance and ensure adherence to project objectives and safety expectations.
- Support licensing and regulatory submissions where required.
- Prepare and present project status reports, performance metrics, and executive-level updates.
- Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all site health, safety, environmental, and radiological protection requirements.
Qualification- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of project management experience in nuclear, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or major capital projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects in highly regulated environments.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain registration.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder management.
- Ability to work full-time on site at Chalk River, Ontario.
- Direct experience in nuclear decommissioning and dismantling projects.
- Experience with radioactive waste management, facility deactivation, demolition, and site remediation activities.
- Existing or previous OPG Security Clearance or BP (Bruce Power) Clearance.
- Familiarity with Canadian nuclear regulations and the requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience managing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities.
