Are you an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through from concept to completion?

We're looking for a Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead capital and engineering projects at our Spruancemanufacturing facility in Richmond, VA. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing projects from initiation through startup, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

This is an individual contributor role that offers significant ownership and visibility. You'll work closely with operations, engineering, EHS, procurement, and external partners to deliver projects that improve our facility and support future growth.

What You'll Do

As our Project Engineer / Project Manager, you will:

  • Lead capital and engineering projects from concept, planning, and design through construction, startup, and closeout.
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and technical performance to ensure successful execution.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, engineering firms, and vendors to keep projects moving forward.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to evaluate designs and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Identify project risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost impacts.
  • Manage project budgets, capital spending, change control, and financial reporting.
  • Communicate project progress, milestones, risks, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain complete project documentation, including engineering drawings, reports, and regulatory compliance records.
  • Partner with operations to ensure successful project startup, turnover, operator training, and documentation of lessons learned.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence teams and drive results without direct supervisory authority.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
