The Production Planner works on materials planning, generation, and aids in monitoring the production and materials schedule through the use of Virgin Galactic systems. The Production Planner coordinates weekly updates, makes real-time changes, and informs stakeholders of changes, while evaluating the feasibility of those recommended changes. Works with many cross functional teams such as Project Management, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Inventory to ensure the production and materials schedule conformance is maintained.
Responsibilities- Works closely with supply chain leadership and other cross functional teams to achieve an optimized schedule.
- Coordinates and holds responsibilty for determining materials, equipment, and coverage needed to cover demand.
- Creates detailed production schedules and adjusts them as needed due to changes, material shortages, or other disruptions.
- Assists leadership with the monitoring and planning of schedules in prioritizing operations and distribution to ensure maximum performance and minimum delays.
- Resolves routine problems and situations affecting scheduled production.
- Reviews purchase orders of materials for accuracy and to ensure production schedules are met.
- Recommends viable solutions to reduce production costs while improving production processes and product quality.
- Compiles status and performance reports to submit to management in a timely manner.
- Informs relevant departments of any changes to current production and material schedules.
- Leverages experience to help the team navigate most challenges including manufacturing effectively, quality resolution, and part availability.
- Maintains dashboards for clear communication of build status for assigned areas.
- Communicates and coordinates completion of tasks through production control and manufacturing.
You may be asked to perform other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
Required Skills and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in related field; and /or combination of education and work experience is required
- 5 years or more of industry experience in progressive technical and leadership roles.
- Prior Planning and Scheduling experience required.
- Experience working with Manufacturing Resource Planning/Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP)/(ERP) systems.
- A firm understanding of part masters, BOM indentions, WIP and forecast planning
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Competency using MS Office suite of tools.
- Ability to ensure effective collaboration across teams
- Good planning and problem-solving skills, and the ability to resolve moderately complex issues effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, apply good interpersonal skills and utilize available resources to accomplish company goals.
- Ability to collaborate on projects with fellow team members, or interdepartmental functions to achieve goals or solve problems.
- Focuses on timeliness and execution of tasks and deliverables.
Physical Requirements- Ability to remain in a stationary position - 8 hours minimum.
- Physically able to handle items weighing up to five (5) pounds (unassisted).
- Travel 5% or more of the time.

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $81,650.00-$124,600.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
