Full Job Description
To get the best candidate experience, please consider applying for a maximum of 3 roles within 12 months to ensure you are not duplicating efforts. Job Category Product Job Details The Experience Salesforce is looking for a Product Manager to join the Platform Metadata & Schema org — the team that builds and evolves the core metadata and schema infrastructure powering the entire Salesforce platform. This is a hands-on, execution-focused PM role at the heart of how Salesforce customers and developers build, customize, and manage their environments. The Metadata APIs & Frameworks area owns the infrastructure that enables programmatic metadata operations at scale — from the Metadata API and Tooling API used by thousands of developers and ISVs every day, to the underlying frameworks that expose and govern metadata CRUD across the platform. You'll be close to the ground: owning sprint execution, driving release delivery, staying tight with engineering, and serving as the primary PM voice for capabilities that developers, admins, ISVs and internal teams depend on daily. You'll also have real strategic ownership — the Metadata API is a canonical Salesforce interface with a long roadmap ahead, and you'll help shape where it goes. What You'll Actually Be Doing - Own sprint-to-release execution for the Metadata and Tooling APIs and Metadata Frameworks teams — driving sprint ceremonies, backlog prioritization, release planning, and on-time delivery of high-quality platform capabilities. - Maintain a prioritized product backlog that balances customer trust cases, technical debt reduction, gap closure work, and strategic feature development — so the team always knows what to build next and why. - Act as the voice of the customer: understand how external developers, admins, ISVs, and internal platform teams rely on the Metadata API and Tooling API, identify friction and reliability gaps, and drive improvements that make programmatic metadata operations more robust and self-serviceable. - Triage and drive resolution of customer trust cases — working with engineering and support to investigate, prioritize, and resolve issues impacting platform reliability and developer experience. - Partner with stakeholders across engineering, quality, architecture, and customer-facing teams to ensure metadata APIs remain reliable, performant, and aligned with evolving platform needs. - Engage with the developer, admin and ISV community — monitor community feedback, support release previews, and build customer empathy by staying close to how builders use these APIs in practice. You're Our Person If... - 3–5+ years of product management experience in enterprise software, developer tools, platform services, or related technology domains. - Strong execution track record — comfortable owning sprint-level product work, driving release planning, and shipping high-quality capabilities on a predictable cadence. - Technical fluency — able to have substantive conversations with engineering about APIs, metadata schemas, CRUD operations, performance, and platform architecture. - Customer-centric mindset — experience triaging customer issues, partnering with support and engineering to diagnose root causes, and driving resolutions that balance short-term fixes with long-term platform health. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to write clear PRDs, communicate status clearly, and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. - Comfort operating in a high-volume, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and customer trust cases require rapid response. Even Better If... - Experience with Salesforce platform APIs (Metadata API, Tooling API, REST/SOAP APIs) or familiarity with how metadata drives configuration and customization in enterprise SaaS platforms. - Background in developer-facing products — APIs, SDKs, CLI tooling, or platform infrastructure. - Understanding of trust case management and working in high-reliability, high-scale production environments. - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and comfort facilitating sprint ceremonies. - Experience with data-driven prioritization — using metrics, customer feedback, and usage data to inform backlog decisions. About the Team You'll join the Platform Metadata & Schema org, which owns the foundation of how Salesforce customers build and manage their environments. It is home to one of Salesforce's most strategically critical product areas — including metadata management and movement APIs, schema infrastructure, and the frameworks that power platform extensibility across every Salesforce cloud. At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $223,900 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $178,900 - $246,000 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
