Role and Facility Information

Vancouver Island Health Division of Plastic Surgery in Victoria is seeking a full time temporary plastic surgeon with Fellowship training in Microsurgery and an interest in general plastic surgery. Goals include expanding the scope of services currently offered by our team of surgeons, particularly in complex reconstruction of the breast, head and neck, trunk, and extremities. This position is for a one-year term.

We are seeking a team-player to complement a group of eight plastic surgeons. Eligible applicants will hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Plastic Surgery and be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Successful candidates will have a strong history of success in all domains of the CanMeds roles as outlined by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Fellowship training in microvascular reconstruction of the breast, head and neck, trunk, and extremities would be assets. Participation in the on-call rota, the skin cancer central referral line and teaching is a requirement of this position. OR resources are provided in both hospital and non-hospital facilities. There is access to minor procedure time. Resources are shared between the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, South Island Surgical Center, and Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Call is shared equally among all division members and is compensated through a MOCAP arrangement.
