We are seeking a Physician who is passionate about obesity medicine and metabolic health to join our growing team in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Reporting to the National Medical Director, you will provide comprehensive, longitudinal obesity medicine care for adults living with obesity and obesity-related metabolic disease. This position focuses exclusively on obesity medicine and metabolic health.
You will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team to deliver individualized, evidence-based treatment plans utilizing lifestyle medicine, nutrition, and the latest pharmacologic therapies.
Position: Hybrid, on-site and remote.

Schedule: Part-time or Full-time Monday-Friday with flexible scheduling (mix of patient contact hours plus administrative time)
EMR: Athena
On-Call: Phone call only, in a rotation with initial triage by nurses, for one (1) week at a time. Average call volume < 1 call per week.
You Will: - Provide compassionate, evidence-based obesity medicine care in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Evaluate and treat patients with obesity and obesity-related metabolic disease using individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage anti-obesity medications (AOMs), including GLP-1 receptor agonists, GIP/GLP-1 therapies, and combination pharmacotherapy, in accordance with current evidence-based guidelines.
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans incorporating lifestyle medicine, nutrition, physical activity, sleep optimization, behavioral interventions, and pharmacotherapy.
- Monitor treatment response, medication efficacy, adverse effects, and long-term weight maintenance strategies.
- Manage obesity-related metabolic conditions within the scope of obesity medicine, including insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and other obesity-associated comorbidities.
- Collaborate closely with registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, nurses, and advanced practice clinicians to provide coordinated, team-based care.
- Partner with the National Medical Director and clinical leadership to uphold evidence-based clinical standards, quality initiatives, and care protocols.
- Foster a weight-inclusive, stigma-free clinical environment that aligns with knownwell's mission and values.
- Serve as collaborating physician for Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs), as applicable.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives (expectation); candidates with prior research experience are encouraged to apply.
You have: Required:
- MD or DO degree with successful completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another relevant primary care specialty.
- Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- DEA registration (or eligibility).
- Demonstrated interest in obesity medicine and metabolic health.
- Experience caring for patients with obesity and obesity-related metabolic disease in an outpatient setting.
- Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered, weight-inclusive care.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
- Experience prescribing and managing anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 receptor agonists, GIP/GLP-1 therapies, and combination pharmacotherapy.
- Familiarity with current obesity medicine clinical practice guidelines.
- Experience delivering hybrid care through both in-person and telehealth visits.
- Research experience
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
