Full Job Description
On-Site Requirements: On-Site

Location: La Jolla, San Diego, CA

Schedule: Full-Time

We're excited to be bringing our care model to San Diego and are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Practice Manager to help expand our presence in the market. Reporting to the SVP, Practice Operations, this role will lead all aspects of our operations in San Diego and be accountable for team development, patient experience, and financial outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by building something new from the ground up, rather than taking over a fully-formed operation. We find that the people who are most successful in this role have an ownership mindset, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a knack for process development.

Responsibilities:
  • Clinic Launch & Leadership: Lead the successful launch of the clinic, including site preparation, staff onboarding, and workflow implementation.
  • People Management: Hire, train, and manage a team of front office and clinical support staff. Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and compassionate care.
  • Process Development & Improvement: Build and refine processes that enable consistent, high-quality, and efficient service delivery.
  • Performance Management: Own key operational and financial metrics; use data to track performance, identify trends, and take actions that will drive clinic results.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with Operations & Finance leadership to develop budgets and prioritize the highest-impact initiatives.
  • Growth: Collaborate with our Marketing & Growth teams to support community outreach and referral relationships to grow our patient panel in the market.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Provide hands-on support to Medical Assistants and clinicians with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure full compliance with internal policies, HIPAA, and all federal, state, and local regulations.

Especially during early clinic operations, this person is expected to be fully onsite in our La Jolla clinic, 5 days per week, to support operations and build relationships with their team. As we build out our staff and open additional clinics in the market, there may be opportunities to adjust this policy (e.g., remote days for administrative work).

Note, this is not meant to be an exhaustive list of all assigned responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of healthcare operations experience, including 2+ years in a clinic management or leadership role
  • Experience successfully launching or scaling a healthcare clinic or program
  • Experience managing clinic operating metrics and P&L performance
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environment

Preferred but not required:
  • Experience in obesity medicine, primary care, and / or chronic care management
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth healthcare organization
  • Familiarity with athenahealth
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or clinical support role
