Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week
Clinic Hours: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Monday through Sunday

Position Summary

NextCare is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team at our Nassau Bay clinic in Houston, TX.

This role is a great fit for an experienced APP who enjoys variety, clinical autonomy, and a fast-paced environment while still having the support of an established urgent care organization.

Our full-time providers typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, giving you more days off than days worked. There are no after-hours inboxes or patient follow-up responsibilities, and schedules are released in advance to help providers plan around life outside of work.

You'll care for patients of all ages with a broad range of acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health needs while working alongside an experienced clinical team and accessible medical leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute illnesses, minor injuries, and occupational health visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
  • Perform common urgent care procedures, including suturing, wound care, splinting, and incision and drainage
  • Provide clear diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
  • Maintain productivity appropriate for a fast-paced urgent care setting
  • Work collaboratively with clinic staff and medical leadership
  • Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Qualifications

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Texas
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate clinical experience required
  • Urgent care, emergency medicine, or other high-volume outpatient experience strongly preferred
  • NP candidates must be certified through ANCC or AANP as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • PA candidates must maintain active NCCPA certification
  • Active DEA license or ability to obtain
  • Active BLS certification
  • Comfortable treating patients across the lifespan
  • Comfortable practicing independently within scope
  • Strong EHR and documentation skills
  • Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
  • DOT certification or willingness to obtain; applicable certification fees are covered
