Position SummaryNextCare is seeking an experienced
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in
Waco, TX.
This opportunity is ideal for a clinician who values

Our full-time clinicians typically work three 12-hour shifts per week, allowing for more days off than days worked. There are no after-hours tasks, and schedules are released in advance to support better work-life balance.
Clinicians are supported by experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, strong peer relationships, and accessible medical leadership. The role offers a broad patient population, varied clinical presentations, and the opportunity to practice independently while having support available when needed.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs and imaging
- Perform urgent care procedures including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions clearly
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
- Code and bill services appropriately
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care expectations
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values
Required Qualifications- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or similar high-volume clinical experience required
- Active, unrestricted Texas NP or PA license
- NP: FNP certification through ANCC or AANP
- PA: NCCPA certification
- Active DEA license or ability to obtain
- Ability to treat patients of all ages
- Active BLS certification
- EHR proficiency
- Comfortable practicing independently in an urgent care setting
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
- DOT certification or willingness to obtain; associated fees covered
Preferred Qualifications- Strong urgent care procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care
- Experience with initial x-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
- Experience working as a solo or lead provider in a fast-paced clinical setting
