What you will be doing?

This position is contingent upon contract award. We are currently pursuing a proposal and are seeking qualified candidates to include in our submission and identify candidates for future hiring needs on the program once awarded.

For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Principal Facility Security Officer. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Personnel Security Analyst. Project Summary


The Personnel Security Specialist will support the execution and oversight of personnel security investigations and adjudication processes within a federal environment. This role is critical to the establishment and operation of a Private Sector Clearance Program (PSCP), ensuring all investigative and adjudicative activities comply with customer security and Intelligence Community (IC) requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process private sector security checks and clearance requests in accordance with security and IC directives while embedded within adjudicative sections.

  • Support the establishment and ongoing maturation of the Private Sector Clearance Program (PSCP) as directed by OSO leadership.

  • Analyze investigative materials, record checks, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy for adjudication decisions.

  • Prepare and draft Reports of Investigation (ROIs) to support security and suitability adjudications.

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and updates of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, briefings, and other documentation; maintain both electronic and physical records.

  • Maintain administrative reporting requirements and documentation in alignment with OSO standards.

  • Support SharePoint content management for the PSCP, ensuring timely updates and accuracy of program information.

  • Receive inbound and prepare outbound communications, including Electronic Communications (ECs), file records, and related documentation.

  • Assist in preparing final reports, presentations, charts, and graphs, including editing for accuracy and completeness.

  • Provide adjudication support for non-PSEP cases as directed by Security Division leadership during periods of reduced PSEP workload.

  • Conduct research, open-source checks, and utilize investigative tools (e.g., LexisNexis) in support of background and security investigations.

Required for This Opportunity
  • Bachelors degree in security, business, intelligence, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience conducting, directing, or evaluating Top Secret and/or Secret investigations.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience analyzing investigations, record checks, and investigative data to support adjudication decisions.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and writing Reports of Investigation (ROIs).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a federal 1811 investigator conducting criminal, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, background, or personnel security investigations.

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated applied knowledge of the following:

    • Executive Order 12968 (Access to Classified Information)

    • Executive Order 10450 (Security Requirements for Government Employees)

    • Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 704

    • National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)

    • OPM Adjudicative Guidelines

    • Attorney General Guidelines

    • National Foreign Intelligence Program Manual

    • Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)

  • Experience using LexisNexis and conducting open-source research in support of investigations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to quickly learn FBI and IC automated systems used for investigative record checks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

Nice to Have Skills
  • Advanced degree in security, intelligence, business, or related field.

  • Experience supporting FBI or Intelligence Community personnel security programs.

  • Experience working within adjudicative or security clearance environments.

  • Familiarity with SharePoint and internal content management processes.

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $116,000-$175,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
