Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time)Job SummaryThe Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is seeking a skilled operations program manager to plan and execute institutional OVPR strategic initiatives from launch through delivery. This position will work to initiate successful interconnected projects that focuses on organizational growth. Work will include enlisting teams to gather required data to evaluate objectives, goals, and scope. In addition, they will manage the functional elements of each project to ensure targets are met and are on schedule. This position will act as liaison between various OVPR units and external stakeholders and will facilitate cross-team collaboration and understanding. The operations program manager will keep leadership informed of key issues that may impact targeted completion.
The department may choose to hire at any of the below job levels and associated pay rates based on their business need and budget.Responsibilities The OVPR is implementing strategic initiatives that will delve into new processes that require timely, coordinated, and effective execution across the institution. Under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment, responsibilities will include:
- Provide project coordination across OVPR units and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Summarize project status, risks, and decisions for executive OVPR leadership.
- Facilitate communication between teams and leadership.
- Ensure alignment with institutional goals and governance structures.
- Help remove roadblocks and ensure timely execution of milestones.
- Coordinate meeting logistics, agenda, and meeting management.
- Manage and document meetings, including notes, action items, and follow-ups.
- Coordinate task assignments and dependencies across teams.
- Track and follow up on assigned tasks to ensure accountability and progress.
Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
IV: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
V: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 10 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 8 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences - PMP Certification
- Experience in higher education or research administration
- Proven leadership in cross-functional project teams
- Excellent communication skills
