Job Summary
Seeking a Junior OpenShift Platform Engineer with foundational experience in OpenShift, Kubernetes, Linux administration, and infrastructure automation to support the administration, automation, and maintenance of enterprise OpenShift platform environments. The engineer will work closely with senior team members to support platform operations, improve deployment processes, assist with automation initiatives, troubleshoot production issues, and provide ongoing platform support while developing platform engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with the administration and support of enterprise OpenShift platform environments, including cluster maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle activities.
• Support Kubernetes and OpenShift platform operations to maintain reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Participate in platform governance and operator management activities under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Perform Linux and RHEL system administration tasks to support platform infrastructure and application availability.
• Work with infrastructure teams to support load balancers, DNS, certificates, and other platform dependencies.
• Assist in developing and maintaining automation solutions using Ansible, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Support GitOps and CI/CD processes using tools such as Argo CD, Git, and Jenkins.
• Troubleshoot OpenShift networking issues, including ingress, routes, services, and load balancing.
• Support platform security requirements, including TLS certificates and access controls.
• Monitor platform health using observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, and logging platforms.
• Assist with troubleshooting production issues, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and operational support activities.
• Participate in on-call or support rotations as required.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in systems administration, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or related technical roles.
• Foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and container platform concepts.
• Basic understanding of OpenShift platform concepts and administration.
• Experience with Linux or RHEL system administration through coursework, internships, labs, or professional experience.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.
• Experience using Git for source control and collaboration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and TCP/IP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and deployment automation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to OpenShift cluster administration or Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or OpenShift GitOps.
• Exposure to monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• Relevant internships, academic projects, home labs, or cloud-native certifications.
• Hands-on experience gained through academic projects or laboratory environments.
