The Role

The Network Planning Geospatial & Data Specialist - Residential & Commercial, reporting to the Manager of Network Geospatial Planning, plays a key role in advancing residential expansion initiatives, network segmentation, customer data gathering and optimization strategies to support Beanfield's growth in the Ontario market. This position requires a deep technical expertise in geospatial data management, with a focus on aligning network expansion efforts with optimal utilization of fiber assets ensuring achieving Beanfield's long term goals.

Based in Toronto, the Specialist through customer data gathering, will oversee the architecture development, Geospatial analysis, and assist in the implementation of Beanfield's immediate and long term five year network plan. The role will focus on system growth, capacity planning, and contribute to the integration of corporate automation to enhance fiber design, ultimately driving the expansion of Beanfield's residential and commercial national footprint, supporting continued business growth.

What You'll Do
  • Database Design & Data Modeling
    database structures, schemas, relationships, and indexing strategies.
    Develop logical and physical data models for address, building characteristics, and operational commercial customer data.
    Design scalable database structures supporting long-term operational growth.
    Maintain documentation for database structures, address data models, and integration workflows with corporate data systems (BOSS, Service Now, Patch Manager, etc)
    Residential & Commercial Customer Data Integration
    Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting data from internal and external sources.
    Optimize data ingestion, transformation, validation, and loading processes.
    Integrate data from multiple operational systems with trusted environments.
    Improve workflow efficiency process standardization.
    Data Reconciliation & Quality
    Develop source-priority and reconciliation frameworks.
    Identify and resolve discrepancies across address, building, unit-count, and operational datasets.
    Implement data quality controls, validation rules, and exception management processes.
    Support the development of trusted master datasets and golden-record strategies.
    Address & Building Database Management
    Develop and maintain a trusted address and building database.
    Support operational planning and business teams with reliable location-based datasets.
    Continuous Improvement
    Knowledge of Python and SQL-based automation solutions are key, ensuring collaboration with corporate IT teams.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve data reliability.
    Continuously improve integration, validation, and reconciliation workflows.
  • Responsible for the development and comprehensive network review aimed at yearly delivery of strategic regional growth plans that includes detailed deployment projections, sales feedback loops, Federal/Municipal/Utility Capital Works Inputs
  • Support management in the preparation of effective long-term fiber overbuilds and network extension plans.
  • Collaborate with design teams across all our markets to develop and enhance integrated network plans based on data analysis.
  • Set network deployment and fibre route plans in accordance with geospatial analysis and set strategy well-founded business cases.
  • Work with internal Sales & Marketing teams on complex bids/orders that involve fiber builds and/or network expansion. This may include field investigation, budgeting, and high-level route maps.
  • Collaborate with all regions to ensure National Network Planning alignment on process and procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver processes, reports, recommendations, or alternatives as it relates to Network Planning objectives and functions.
  • Work cross-functionally in the pursuit of improved network planning processes with the use of geospatial, topographical analysis, and Layer 1 network models.
  • Scope projects and assist the Planning, Design, and Implementation team in developing cost and time-saving solutions involving GIS outputs.


What You Bring
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management,
    Engineering, or a related field computer science, engineering, geography, or related field, or minimum of 4+ years of relevant professional experience..
  • Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
  • Experience designing database structures and relational data models from scratch
  • Strong proficiency with toolsets such as ESRI, AutoCAD, JIRA, Confluence
  • Strong leadership skills with solid decision-making, problem-solving skills.
  • Technically and analytically strong.
  • Ability to interact and establish working relationships with internal teams, researchers, and application vendors.
  • Hands on experience in datamining, designing and building modern data validation routines, data persistence and DB quality control queries.
  • Integrating multiple addresses and building datasets with varying levels of quality and completeness.
