ABOUT THIS ROLEWe are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic manager to support and drive global strategy for the Life Sciences and Health Care (LSHC) Sector and the life sciences regulatory practices, including Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, Health, Medical Device and Technology, and Food. The role will work alongside the Senior Manager LSHC Sector, global LSHC Sector Heads, Leadership team, and the LSHC regulatory practice area leaders.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive and close-knit team, operating globally across the full LSHC Sector. You will play a critical role in supporting client development and profile-raising initiatives for the sector and the LSHC regulatory practices, to ensure we:
- deliver on the profile-raising initiatives and objectives laid out in the business plans
- maximize our opportunities to grow our revenues from existing and prospective clients across the sector raise the firm's profile and position within our key markets
- leverage and coordinate our people, knowledge and resources in an effective and efficient manner
This candidate will work closely with other members of our global M&BD team to ensure that LSHC programs support the firm, sector, and practice priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESM&BD STRATEGY, CLIENT DEVELOPMENT & BUDGET
- Working closely with the Senior Manager LSHC Sector and the LSHC Sector team to develop robust M&BD plans for the sector and regulatory practices, in line with the group's overall business strategy and objectives.
- Supporting on the implementation of practice M&BD plans, leveraging dedicated M&BD resource across the international network and regularly monitoring and reporting on progress.
- Following sector, practice, and regional trends to identify business opportunities relevant to growth initiatives to target new business and develop profile with key clients.
- Leading strategy and coaching around specific client opportunities to broaden existing relationships and drive the development of new relationships.
- Supporting to develop comprehensive budgets for the industry sector and the LSHC regulatory practice groups and helping to actively manage budgets during the financial year.
PITCHING, TARGETING & NEW BUSINESS GENERATION
- Managing responses to RFPs, customized pitches, and business development presentations across the LSHC Sector and the LSHC regulatory practice groups, coordinating with colleagues.
- Advising on new business opportunities, providing support on the development of our proposition, approach, team, and supporting materials.
- Working with the lawyers to develop strong standard credentials and off the shelf material to support client outreach.
- Preparing pitch teams for presentations and carrying out post-pitch reviews.
- Ensuring there is a structured approach in place for maintaining up-to-date M&BD information and knowledge.
MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & PROFILE RAISING
- Lead efforts to enhance the firm's profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships.
- Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, day-of logistics, and follow-up reporting.
- Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications.
- Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement.
- Liaising and collaborating with other M&BD teams including practice groups, sector teams, Client Account Managers, and PR to cross sell capabilities and credentials, including proactively coordinating with PR to raise the profile of individual partners and propositions.
- Leading the relationships and relationship management in sponsorship opportunities. This includes building the business case to secure sponsorship approval, and ensuring Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is engaged with relevant programs.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION & KNOWLEDGE SHARING
- Working with the LSHC Sector and the LSHC regulatory practice groups leadership to coordinate and engage effectively with the wider sector.
- Ensuring that there is an efficient framework for internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities and successes, including the provision of information for wider management reporting.
- Working closely with the partners and Knowledge Lawyer team to leverage know how and promote sector capabilities across the firm, including through newsletters and the intranet.
WIDER M&BD PROJECTS
- Overseeing and contributing to wider M&BD projects as required.
- Working with the lateral recruiting team to support and integrate lateral LSHC partners and counsel.
- Contributing to the firm strategic priorities and broader Future of Digitalization efforts.
- All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Responsible Business Program.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience required, preferably in the legal or professional services industry.
- One (1)+ year(s) of people management experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required; Degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred
- Post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.
- Established knowledge and experience of the life sciences and health care sector.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCore hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch. Must be flexible to work additional hours, as needed.
In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is $135,900 to $199,300 per year.
This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate's qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses. Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
