remote work may be considered for highly qualified candidates.Position SummaryThe Mapper Programmer will support the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) NYCWAY project by developing, maintaining, and supporting applications and databases within the UNISYS mainframe and MAPPER/BIS environment.
This position requires extensive hands-on experience with MAPPER/BIS technologies, mainframe database development and maintenance, CoolICE, .NET/JavaScript, and application user interface design. The Mapper Programmer will also support requirements analysis, system design, testing, technical documentation, reporting, and application development activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in legacy and modern application technologies and the ability to understand business requirements and translate customer needs into effective technical solutions.
Required ExperienceA minimum of
six (6) years of professional experience with the required MAPPER/BIS, mainframe, application development, and related technical skill sets.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Minimum of six (6) years of experience with MAPPER/BIS programming and databases.
- Hands-on experience with MAPPER/BIS CoolICE.
- Experience with .NET and JavaScript technologies.
- Experience developing and supporting MAPPER/BIS GUI applications, including UI/UX considerations.
- Strong experience with MAPPER/BIS in a mainframe environment.
- Experience creating, maintaining, and supporting mainframe databases.
- Experience developing and producing management reports.
- Experience and knowledge of the UNISYS mainframe environment.
- Experience working within PC-based environments and integrating or supporting solutions across mainframe and PC platforms.

Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, maintain, and support MAPPER/BIS applications and databases supporting the NYCWAY project.
- Develop and maintain applications within the UNISYS mainframe environment.
- Create, modify, and maintain mainframe databases to support business and application requirements.
- Develop and support solutions utilizing MAPPER/BIS and CoolICE technologies.
- Develop and maintain application functionality utilizing .NET and JavaScript, as applicable.
- Design and support MAPPER/BIS graphical user interfaces with consideration for usability and user experience.
- Analyze business and customer requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions.
- Participate in requirements gathering and technical requirements analysis.
- Develop system designs and technical specifications for new applications and system enhancements.
- Design and support three-tier application architectures.
- Prepare and execute test plans to validate application functionality and system changes.
- Produce management and operational reports based on business requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, database, mainframe, and system issues.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, technical documentation, test documentation, and operating procedures.
- Collaborate with business analysts, application developers, technical teams, and business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and modernization activities associated with NYCWAY applications and systems.
