About the role:

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for the Pelleting department, you will provide direct engineering support to Operations covering the manufacturing or process department spanning product and process specs, procedures and instructions, equipment optimization and maintenance.

You will report to the Chemical Engineering Manager and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze data to define problems; perform tests to generate solutions; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Lead major manufacturing or process engineering projects including responsibility for expenditure of funds, schedules and implementation of process or manufacturing equipment in areas of responsibility.
  • Assume lead technical responsibility the specifications of new process, design, development, installation and qualification of new equipment. This also includes supporting equipment design upgrades to current equipment to improve equipment utilization and optimization.
  • Analyze and recommend utilization of technological innovations in material, machinery, manufacturing and chemical processing techniques to solve complex manufacturing problems.
  • Analyze and make proposals, renew business opportunities and plant or division strategic plans.
  • Prepare technical papers and make formal presentations to customers and others.
  • Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Represent Westinghouse on professional society or industry trade associations.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3- 5 years in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required (level will be determined based on years of experience)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • We desire experience in powder processing and sintering, but do not require it.
  • Nuclear is desired but not required


We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
