The role:

The Manager, Junior Product Owner is part of a team responsible for successful technology project implementations of retail and small business credit card products and LOCs.

The individual will work closely with the Senior Manager, Product Owner to ensure the design of the core credit card and lending system meets the needs of the business and is optimized to deliver cost efficiencies and potential revenue opportunities while driving towards the Credit Cards and Lending end state.

Is this role right for you? - In this role you will:

Product Requirements
  • Support managing and refining the product backlog to reflect business priorities and customer feedback
  • Support translating requirements into user stories and acceptance points
  • Support prioritizing features, bug fixes and improvements to maximize value delivered in each sprint
  • Collaborate with developers, designers and QA testers to ensure alignment
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
  • Support monitoring progress against goals and making adjustments to keep delivery on track


Implementation support and product readiness
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Product Owner and the Credit Cards and Lending product teams to maintain product rationalization and simplification strategy.
  • Support the creation of channel/customer marketing communications to communicate changes.
  • Review and provide input into necessary requirement/design/testing/implementation documents and support technology teams (business
  • analysis/development/testing/production support) when required to ensure successful implementation.
  • Support training efforts, provide input, document requirements, and support the design and delivery of training programs as required.


Project Management
  • Support the tracking, monitoring and communication of progress of product specific initiatives against defined project milestones to ensure progress versus expectations.
  • Establish a two-way communication process with project participants, senior management and all other product stakeholders to maintain support, negotiate priorities and ensure the change initiatives stay on track.
  • Support the scheduling of all planning steps including change management strategy planning and business planning/alignment.


Change Management
  • Support the tracking, monitoring, and communicating the progress of initiatives against defined project milestones to ensure progress versus expectations.
  • Support the assessment of change impact by conducting impact analysis, assessing change readiness, and identifying key stakeholders as required in partnership with the dedicated Business Operational Readiness lead within the business line/segment/corporate function they support.
  • Support the scheduling of all planning steps including change management strategy as provided by the E2E team, and business planning/alignment in collaboration with business partners.
  • Support the communication efforts - i.e. the design, development, delivery and management of communications - in order to deliver a single consistent message across the organization and initiatives in partnership with the dedicated Business Operational Readiness Lead within the business line/segment/corporate function they support.
  • Champions a customer focused and strong risk culture by playing a key role in the change management process through leveraging the Bank's relationships, systems and knowledge.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
  • 5 years of lending and banking industry experience
  • Strong understanding of credit cards and lending products, programs, processes, policies, regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Understanding of financial services industry trends, issues and competitor practice
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including preparing presentation deck
  • TSYS knowledge and experience would be a definite asset
  • Prior PO, product management, marketing, strategy or experience operating in a business line is an asset
  • A passionate self-starter who enjoys working in a fast paced and continuously evolving competitive environment
  • An individual who can work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Someone with strong analytical and problem solving mind set who can work with other team members and resolve issues to develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business line
  • An individual who is customer focused when developing requirements to a constantly evolving consumer lending market
