  • Chair the site Safety Council to promote safety excellence in alignment with leadership.
  • Provide safety training programs, including compliance for new employees and contractors.

Full Job Description
Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Manager EHS role will make an impact: Key responsibilities for this role include: • Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of all general environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and programs, and plant safety programs in accordance with all Federal, State and Local codes and corporate policies. Submit all required Federal, State, Local and corporate regulatory reports in a timely manner. • Maintain documentation of, and investigate cause of, workplace injuries and illnesses. Investigates industrial incidents and occupational accidents. Prepares reports of findings with recommendation for corrective action including investigation of incidents and accidents to ascertain root causes for use in recommending preventive environmental, occupational health, and safety measures, and the development of effective preventative programs, evaluation of trends and follow-up plan. Suggest changes to equipment, processes, and facilities to improve safety. • Coordinate the gathering and correlating of data for the evaluation and assessment of releases to the environment for the purpose of source reduction, pollution prevention, and regulatory agency required reporting. Confer with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and specialized consultants to discover environmental quality standards, occupational health and safety practices, and new developments in EH and S. Oversee Controlled Waste and Hazardous Waste Programs by maintaining inventories, scheduling pick-ups, establishing new waste streams, maintaining documentation and log books, and performing state reporting. • Provide for the effective and proper management of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated by various facility activities, construction sites, and other areas incorporated by MTI’s operations to ensure environmental compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. Research, analyze and provide guidance of the proper packaging, labeling, and shipping procedures as it relates to Haz-Mat or products designated as Dangerous Goods. • Observe workers to determine proper utilization of prescribed safety equipment such as safety glasses, respirators, face shields, goggles, protective outerwear and foot ware, and other required safety devices or clothing. Conduct testing of work areas for noise, toxic substances, and other hazards. Direct and advise facility personnel in evaluation of problems, recommending corrective action, implementing solutions, and ensuring compliance. • Chair the site Safety Council with the goal of driving comprehensive safety excellence at the site, coordinating the direction and strategy with the site senior leadership. • Direct and advise facility personnel in evaluation of problems, recommending corrective action, implementing solutions, and ensuring compliance. • Develop, maintain, and conduct safety training, including, but not limited to, ergonomics, confined spaces, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, fire extinguisher, hazard communication and other programs required to ensure adequate employee training is provided. Assure EHS-related orientation to new employees and contractors at the site. • Develop and maintain API handling procedures and training program. Coordinate value-based Safety Training and Incentive Program. Oversee Industrial Hygiene Program including taking air samples and maintaining documentation related to air monitoring. • Assist with activities associated with the administration of the workers compensation program. Investigate incidents to root cause, prepare recommendations, implementing solutions and ensuring compliance. Direct and participate in monthly meetings with NA EH&S, site personnel and corporate contracted resources. The minimum qualifications for this role are: • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Safety and Environmental is required and 3-5 years of relevant experience in the environmental, occupational health, or safety arena is required. A Master’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental Management and 1-3 years’ experience is preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. • Must possess advanced knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT, and IATA regulations. Must possess knowledge of Company and Department policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local government regulations. Requires understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). • RCRA certified. DOT Haz Mat certification. 40 hours Haz Mat training. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $152,000.
