Full Job Description
Manager, D365 QA

The Manager, D365 Quality Assurance (QA) is responsible for owning the end-to-end testing strategy for D365 Finance & Operations (F&O), including test design, automation governance, release compliance, and overall quality assurance. Reporting to the Director, Product Owner, ERP - Financial and Operations Systems, this role shapes global testing processes (automated regression, manual testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and performance testing), while aligning testing capabilities with operational stability and continuous delivery goals. The role also stewards the enterprise testing framework across both corporate and business units, ensuring strong controls over code deployments, configuration changes, and system integrations, while advancing the QA automation roadmap.

What You'll Be Doing:

Test Strategy & Process Ownership
  • Define and govern end-to-end testing processes across D365 F&O, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Finance, Supply Chain, and related modules.
  • Maintain the global test strategy blueprint and enterprise QA templates.
  • Standardize testing methodologies while supporting localized or specific operational testing needs.

Automation, Design & Governance
  • Author test plans and manage the QA backlog within Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Govern testing tools (e.g., RSAT, Selenium, Leap work) and test environment setups to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Oversee test data management and ensure the availability of accurate master data for testing scenarios.

Integrations, Performance & Reporting
  • Govern the testing of integration points between D365 F&O and downstream/upstream systems (e-commerce, WMS/TMS, boundary applications).
  • Partner with platform teams to design and execute load, stress, and performance testing.
  • Ensure QA reporting provides real-time visibility into test execution progress, defect densities, and release readiness.

Optimization, Releases & Innovation
  • Drive the adoption of test automation within D365 F&O, integrating automated scripts into the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Identify automation opportunities to eliminate manual testing efforts and reduce regression cycle times for D365 version updates.
  • Lead proof-of-concepts for new QA tools or AI-driven testing capabilities.

Risk, Compliance & Defect Management
  • Maintain rigorous internal controls over code promotion and deployment approvals.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, risk assessments, and IT compliance reviews.
  • Ensure testing processes support ITGC, SOX compliance, and complete traceability from requirement to test case to deployment.

Change Management & Enablement
  • Review and sign off on release readiness documentation for new features and continuous updates.
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) workshops with cross-functional business stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Procurement).
  • Mentor QA analysts and build internal D365 testing capability across teams.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex defect triage and resolution.

KPIs & Success Metrics
  • Defect leakage rate into production (target: near zero).
  • Percentage of automated regression test coverage vs. manual testing.
  • Reduction in regression testing cycle times per deployment.
  • UAT sign-off efficiency and business stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Successful execution of Microsoft One Version updates with zero unplanned business disruption.
  • Test environment stability and data availability SLA adherence.

What You Bring:

  • Deep QA leadership expertise, specifically within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations / AX environments.
  • Strong experience designing and managing test automation frameworks using industry best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), RSAT (Regression Suite Automation Tool), LCS (Lifecycle Services), and core QA tools.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive testing and QA experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role overseeing complex ERP deployments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or Business.
  • Certifications in Software Testing (e.g., ISTQB) and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (strongly preferred).
  • Experience managing testing lifecycles for Microsoft One Version continuous updates in multi-entity organizations.
  • Strong enterprise QA framework stewardship with a laser focus on deployment risk mitigation.
  • Ability to translate complex functional design documents (FDDs) into comprehensive, scalable test coverage matrices.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to clearly present release readiness and defect impacts to governance boards.

Key Skills/Who You Are:

  • Builds strong working relationships across Platform, Operations, Corporate, the SI, and project leadership to keep quality aligned across all groups.
  • Communicates test readiness and quality risk clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Manages competing priorities with sound judgement and a collaborative mindset, and mentors the QA team effectively.
  • Partners with Product Owners, Engineering Leadership, Business Operations, and System Integration partners.
  • Represents QA in ERP governance and CAB forums; presents release recommendations, impacts, and deployment risks.
