The Business Process Manager collaborates with Merchandising & Co-op Brands teams, Information Technology, and the broader REI business community to guide the development of processes, systems, and reports. This role contributes to future solution design while supporting current Merchandising applications. This versatile employee leverages knowledge of business goals, processes, and operations, combined with technical aptitude, a process improvement mindset, and project management skills to deliver capabilities and insights throughout the value chain.
The Business Process Manager evaluates and prioritizes projects within budget and resource constraints in a dynamic marketplace, with a focus on growing sales and margin, increasing efficiency, and improving end-to-end processes while offering product expertise. Supports Merchandising & Co-op Brands in partnership with enterprise teams to achieve intended outcomes. Models and acts in accordance with REI's guiding values, competencies, and mission.

- Monitors operational statistics, reports trends, variances and issues, and responds appropriately.
Responsibilities - Facilitates and participates in business process design workshops, representing business users and enabling proven best practices across multiple merchandising disciplines.
- Supports the implementation of proven best practices, company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote REI's business strategies and growth targets.
- Develop and maintain a complete working knowledge of Merchandising & Co-op Brands current and future processes, procedures, and applications.
- Facilitate business or subject matter expert workshops, working sessions, and interviews for requirements gathering sessions.
- Interprets business needs, builds business requirements or user stories, and guides solution development on behalf of Merchandising & Co-op Brands teams.
- Build, align and communicate business cases and project value propositions at all levels of the organization.
- Prepare requirements, functional specifications, user stories, business processes, and requests for proposals (RFPs) associated with Merchandising & Co-op Brands projects.
- Participates in evaluation of technology solutions.
- Recommends implementation strategies, timelines and resource requirements to achieve business objectives.
- Manages and executes medium to large sized projects in collaboration with cross-divisional partners, especially Merchandising & Co-op Brands Information Technology (IT).
- Participates in all project status meetings as business lead; daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, sprint demonstrations for Agile projects, and other project meetings as required.
- Responsible for delivering all project deadlines, milestones, release dates, and schedules.
- May function as the Product Owner for projects using Agile methodology and Scrum framework.
- Responsible for backlog grooming/prioritization sessions to ensure alignment by business and development teams.
- Provides input to Merchandising & Co-op Brands portfolio leadership on cadence, timing, and dependencies across related initiatives and projects.
- Applies project management best practices and standards and supports their use across teams and the organization.
- Designs and develops dashboards, reports, presentations, and visual aids to inform and support business decisions for merchants and leaders.
- Leads User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in partnership with IT teams.
- Assists with training and rollout plans for new systems or enhancements to existing systems as directed by the manager or change management lead.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Product Design, Retail, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
- 5+ years professional experience in Merchandising, product design & development, process improvement, or similar business areas
- 3+ years of project-oriented experience in Merchandising, Product Design, Retail, Supply Chain, or Operations preferred
- Knowledge/proficiency with Excel VBA, SQL, or other programming languages preferred
- Experience with SAP ECC, enterprise merchandising solutions (Oracle, JDA, SAP or similar), and Product Lifecycle Management systems (Enovia, Centric or similar)
- Certification or knowledge of PMP, Scrum, Agile, and SAFe frameworks preferred
- Experience with business process improvement principles (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) preferred
- Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency in a business environment
- Demonstrated ability to learn while working in a complex and rapidly changing environment
- Experience developing and delivering project documentation, including presentations to senior leaders
- Clear and effective communication across all levels of an organization
- Knowledge of merchandising principles, capabilities, and processes
Pay Range$113,200.00 - $181,100.00 per year
