Full Job Description
TITLE: Maintenance Team Leader

LOCATION: Onsite in Scarborough, ON

SHIFT & HOURS: Night Shift: Sunday - Thursday 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

Hiring Hourly Rate: $51.00 per hour (plus night shift premium)

The Maintenance Team Lead plays a key role in supporting Griffith Foods Canada's operational performance and profitability by leading the maintenance team and ensuring maintenance operations are carried out safely, effectively, and efficiently. The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for supervising maintenance activities, coordinating preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring all maintenance and repair work is completed in a timely manner to support operational excellence.

As a Maintenance Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
  • Report maintenance activities, equipment issues, and project updates to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Lead and support maintenance team members by providing training, technical guidance, and necessary resources.
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
  • Communicate daily with all departments to address equipment and facility needs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor maintenance performance, including work quality, response times, reporting, and completion of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, GMP, security, and company policies, and participate in audits and inspections.
  • Manage contractors and external service providers to ensure work is completed to company standards and requirements.
  • Support maintenance budgeting by assisting with cost control, equipment evaluations, parts procurement, and capital planning.
  • Complete and maintain required maintenance, safety, regulatory, and audit documentation and reports.

Qualified candidates must have:
  • Specialized training from a recognized Community College program (3-year Community College program or equivalent) and/or a valid Electrical 309A or Millwright 433A Journeyman's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including comprehension of instructions, correspondence, and memos, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • 5+ years of experience in a food, food ingredient, beverage or liquids, pet food, pharmaceutical or specialty chemical production environment.


What will set you apart:
  • Trade certification with dual-ticket qualifications preferred, including both a 433A Canadian Millwright License and an Ontario 309A Electrical Construction & Maintenance License
  • 3 years of experience and/or training in a CFIA-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).


Candidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in Canada. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

This is a safety sensitive position, and it requires the use of an N9 NIOSH-approved fitted respirator ("N95") or an approved alternative. Successful candidates will be required to go through appropriate fit-testing and will be required to wear an N95 while performing their duties.
