Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Storage Consultant to support and manage enterprise mainframe storage environments. This remote role is responsible for storage administration, capacity planning, software installation and maintenance, disaster recovery, automation, and day-to-day operational support. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with IBM mainframe storage technologies and z/OS environments.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily operational support, including health checks, monitoring incident queues, and resolving storage-related issues.
• Manage mainframe disk space, including installation, removal, upgrades, updates, restoration, and provisioning activities.
• Raise and implement changes to increase storage capacity as needed.
• Configure, install, maintain, monitor, and support storage systems, databases, VSAM files, work space, and sort space.
• Perform CA Disk system programming and storage management activities, including installation, testing, evaluation, and disk space allocation.
• Support z/OS hardware planning, IODF, LPAR, HMC configuration, and associated infrastructure activities.
• Administer and execute backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Install, maintain, and upgrade products in the z/OS environment using SMP/E and zOSMF.
• Manage volume space, storage capacity, and participate in disaster recovery testing and drills.
• Coordinate with cross-functional support teams to resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Utilize mainframe automation tools such as NetView, System Automation (SA), CA OPS/MVS, or similar technologies for storage management.
• Automate manual storage administration tasks to improve operational efficiency.
• Design, configure, implement, and support IBM zSeries storage hardware and software solutions.

Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise mainframe storage environments.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS concepts and architecture.
• Experience with mainframe storage monitoring tools.
• Experience with IBM DS8K disk hardware installation, upgrades, and DSCLI.
• Experience with GDPS, PPRC Metro, DFHSM, DFDSS, ICKDSF, and z/OS IODF.
• Experience with EMC DLM virtual tape hardware installation, upgrades, and configuration.
• Experience with CA1, Vantage, and CA Disk or related storage management tools.
• Experience supporting TS7720 and DS8870 storage systems.
• Knowledge of Grid, PPRC, SMS, and RMM customization.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Brocade DCX or FICON technologies.
• Experience with z/OS JCL and job scheduling.
• Experience with TDMF/TDMFS.
