BASIC PURPOSE:

The Liquidity Management Specialist assists in managing the Bank's cash position to provide liquidity for bank operations and to make funds available for shareholder advances. The Liquidity Management Specialist maintains close communication with internal staff to provide accurate cash projections, and executes Fed funds, Debt Issuance, reverse repurchase and interest-bearing deposit transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Monitors cash balances throughout the day. Maintains an accurate cash flow projection and estimate of available funds at all times. Regulates the timing of cash flows to ensure that funds are available for the critical Office of Finance main settlement wire (Net wire) at the established cutoff times.
  • Communicates with the Capital Markets and Funding team to ensure that intraday funding needs are clearly known and reconciles all activity to the Liquidity Cash Management Report. Maintains communication with Sales, E-Payments and Safekeeping to ensure that information from these areas is included in cash flow projections.
  • Executes Fed funds trades directly with counterparties or through brokers. Enters trades into the UCR system and ensures that trades are within exposure limits and comply with department procedures and the Risk Management Policy.
  • Assists in managing relationships with direct counterparties and Fed funds brokers. Maintains an appropriate balance between direct trades and broker trades to ensure optimal access to the market while limiting brokerage fees.
  • Enters wire transfers for settlement of Fed funds trades into the ACI Money Transfer System with accuracy.
  • Trades reverse repurchases in early morning trading on a rotating basis with other Treasury staff.
  • Monitors IBDAs and moves money into and out of accounts as needed, as part of the Bank's investment strategy or to reduce counterparty exposure. Monitors cash balances in the JPMorgan Chase safekeeping account and directs the movement of money to minimize credit exposure.
  • Sets the DIA/DRC rate based on trading activity and shares with multiple departments.
  • Plans, negotiates, and executes funding and hedging transactions with the Office of Finance, debt underwriters, and derivative counterparties to fund and hedge the Bank.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Must be self-directed but follow procedures very accurately. Attention to detail and understanding of data inputs is critically important. Ability to work well in team environment is required. Must exhibit strong communication skills and gather multiple inputs from team members.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. The ability to use spreadsheets and pivot tables is required. Use of databases and the ability to query information is preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor's degree in business or similar field is required. Experience in trading, finance, banking or accounting is desirable. Knowledge of cash management, investments and trading is preferred.

Credit background checks are required for this position on a biennial basis and are required as terms of continued employment.

Work Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Atlanta, GA office. This position may not be filled in New Jersey, either in-person or remotely.
